We spent a few days at the Shafer Baillie Mansion with a large family group. Was a beautifully restored house with great public rooms that were perfect for our group. All of the guest rooms were equally as nice.

We're just back from our son's wedding with six rooms occupied at Shafer Baillie for the east coast family. All rooms were well recieved by each couple, breakfasts were plentiful and the hospitality was welcoming. The ample common space was perfect for this family reunion. We'll be back!

Room Tip: All rooms are unique but none will disappoint.

This Shafer Baillie Mansion is absolutely beautiful and the ONLY place to stay in the Capitol Hill area. …But Let me tell you that you will love Brenda. She is so kind and friendlily, will make excellent breakfasts for you, will be a friend to you if you wish. You will love her and she is such a asset to making Shafer Baillie Mansion work as a B&B. She bring human warmth to this beautiful old building. Dr. Howard E. Rhodes, Chief Technology Officer, OmniVision Technologies Feb 23, 2014

Room Tip: All the rooms are fabulous.

Thanks for your kind review! Brenda has been our friend for a long time, but just passed her 5th anniversary as innkeeper at the Mansion. We're indeed lucky to have her here!

I am, sadly, just leaving Seattle after a delightful stay at the Shafer Baillie Mansion. I cannot say enough about the wonderful hospitality during my two days at the inn.

The mansion itself is a throwback to a bygone era; beautifully decorated with period fixtures and antiques. My room was super clean (and that means a lot to me when I travel) with very comfortable...bedding, furnishings, amenities.

The Shafer Baillie is well located, on a stately tree-lined street mid-way up Capitol Hill, overlooking the city and Elliott Bay. Easy access to downtown, without all the hustle and bustle of in-city lodging. Oh yes, there is plenty of parking all around the inn.

The service was professional and very attentive...genuine! Innkeeper Brenda, is an "11" on the personality scale, a real gem who made me feel welcome and relaxed from the moment I was greeted. Glenn was also a great help in identifying places to go and things to do that are off the beaten path; very much "in the know".

Breakfasts were delicious, with both hot and cold options, all made by Brenda and Glenn, and nicely presented. Breakfast was served at a long dining table, so I had the opportunity to meet and talk with some other interesting guests visiting from as far away as the UK.

The SBM is a real find that made for a wonderful visit to Seattle. I'll be back!

The Shafer Baillie Mansion was the perfect in town getaway! My boyfriend and I stayed in the Southeast ballroom, which had a french provincial theme. The room was extremely clean and had the most comfortable king size bed! Water pressure and temperature was great, and my only gripe about the room would be scented shampoo and conditioner of which I'm not a great fan-(I should've brought my own). There is a lovely complimentary breakfast between 8-10am, with fresh fruit, yogurt, coffee, cobbler, or egg strata, and it is fun to meet other travellers at breakfast (or locals like myself). The mansion itself is simply gorgeous, and it was fun to take the newspaper into the livingroom and act like it was my own. The Innkeepers, Brenda and Glenn know their stuff and are very accomodating. I'm looking forward to staying there again!

Room Tip: Although all the rooms look great, I prefer one on the third floor.

The bed was excellent and so was the breakfast. Breakfast included fresh fruit, cereal, toast, croissants, hard boiled eggs, cheese, coffee, juice, yogurt, and much more. This place also has free street parking, free WiFi, free computer and printer use, and a great atmosphere. It's a mansion in the truest sense. I hope to stay here again.

Would loved to have stayed in Seattle longer, such a a unique experience with charm and character all round ! So many lovely nooks and crannies to explore or just ponder in the house. Yummy savory bread and butter pudding extravaganza too, many thanks to Ana, Brenda and Glenn for your fabulous hospitality.
