Loved the modern feel and look of this hotel and it was in a great location at a very affordable price. My only con was the small fitness room was always packed when I was there but I was also told that a film crew was staying in the hotel as well so that may explain it. The front desk was friendly and it was only $15 a night for parking!

We really liked this hotel on our two night stay in Seattle. Just as a point of reference, we have spent more than $50,000 over the last three years at Westins, Le Meridiens, and other Starwood properties. We decided to branch out in Seattle and enjoyed our experiment.

Pros:
- Excellent walking location to tourist attractions and mass transit like Pike's Place and Light Rail
- Fun, contemporary design with lots of natural light and fairly spacious bathrooms
- Excellent restaurant; try the Smoked Salmon Benedict with truffle hollandaise sauce
- Good perks like excellent, free wi-fi, in-room Keurig, and DirecTV
- Smart room furniture; every lamp had a plug in its base for all of our iPads and the like
- Friendly, unobtrusive staff

Cons:
- Construction on the roof when we were here (starts at 9am)
- Curb appeal isn't all that; you can tell it was renovated from humbler origins
- Interior design may not be for everyone; red and black compressed wood desk, laminate floors

We thought our stay was very comfortable, tasty, and inspiring. Our bed and breakfast rate was an excellent deal. The hotel isn't luxurious like a Ritz Carlton but that's not the point. Hotel FIVE is good value. We would definitely stay here again and eat at the restaurant.

Hotel Five had the painters in during our visit, giving a vibrant coat of red paint to the building's exterior. In fact most of the hotel seemed to have undergone a facelift recently. We had chosen the smallest room but we were surprised just how large it was. Our room like the rest of the hotel had the 'fingerprints' of its interior designer all over it. Bright colours shared space with lively fabrics and all in the best possible taste! The front of house staff all seemed young and enthusiastic, Mackenzie and Jason were particularly good. You can't get a much better location, a few minutes walk to all the sites. Leave the hotel and turn left and you're a couple of minutes from the Westlake Centre (shopping and monorail). A further five minutes and you're at the world-famous Pike Place Market. Turn right and ten minutes will have you at the Space Needle and all the attractions of the Seattle Centre Grounds (Gehry's Popular Culture Museum, Concert Halls and the great Intiman Theatre). One thing, when we stayed at Hotel Five the wifi was a bit hit and miss at times, however, this was I understand due to the work that was going on in the building at the time as the staff explained. In fact the wifi signal was perfect on our last day there. The neighbourhood is quiet and safe and the excellent and frequent local buses are free all summer long.

Room Tip: For breakfast go directly across the road to the small Midtown Diner - great value and choice. For a...

after doing a lot of research on this site and others, we decided to try Hotel Five based on the reviews. Almost all of the positive reviews were dead on. For the location and price (under $200 per night right near downtown) you really can't go wrong here. Hotel Five is right between Pike Place Market and Seattle Center - both less than a 10 minute walk away. The rooms were kind of dorm style but very comfortable and modern. The hardwood floors were a welcomed change from normal hotel experiences, and the bathroom was huge/new. Some reviewers complained about noise from construction/street/neighboring rooms but we didn't experience any of this. The staff was also very accommodating and friendly.

If you want a hotel with amenities like a spa or full time restaurant you might want to explore other options, but if you just need a really nice hotel in a prime spot for a great price, give the Hotel Five a shot - we do not regret it.

Stayed there early this year. Great location- a mile or so to Space Needle, downtown shopping, Pike's place. Rooms are clean, updated, modern. Hardwood floors. We had one included breakfast and the smoked salmon eggs benedict is good. Parking is limited however but we always managed to get a space. Our room faced the monorail so can be noisy during daytime. All in all a great value. Oh and it's yards away from Top Pots Doughnuts!

Nice location and a fair price. They have bikes to loan so ask. I found out about them during the survey after our stay. Rooms are a little small due to the age of the property, but the decoration and paint make up for it. Beds and baths clean and very comfortable with a very cool sink and nice soaps and shampoos. The Keurig coffee maker is nice. They rooms have hardwood flooring and can amplify sound. A towel at the bottom of the door to hall helps with outside noise. I believe that the family and I will check in again. P.S. Walk north towards the Space Needle, Zeeks Pizza, some of the best in the Northwest. Also get the city pass if you are in town for the museums.

Room Tip: Ask for the room with a view of the Space Needle.

Hotel Five - recently refurbished is ideally located. It is walking distance to where the action is.
The Westlake skytrain station is barely 5minutes away. If you are for walking - most touristic spots are within walking distance. There are several restaurants within minutes of the hotel

The service at the hotel is good - members of the front desk staff are efficent and friendly

The hotel provides free Starbucks coffee and pineapple cupcakes at the reception in the afternoon

In the room, Tully's coffee is provided instead. Free bottled drinking water is provided everyday

Room Tip: This hotel is ideal for pre and post cruise travellers as the cruise centre is nearby
