The Woodland Park Zoo is one of the best zoos that I have ever been to. I live in Seattle, so I go to the zoo about four or five times a year, and I never get bored. The zoo has excellent enrichment programs for its animals, so they are never bored as well. In addition, their exhibits are extremely detailed and more than adequately illustrate the animals' natural habitat. This should not be a surprise since the WPZ is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).
I especially admire the zoo's attention to education. I think people of all ages can learn something from the zoo. I really enjoy going into the "Trail of Vines" area when it is raining, it really makes me feel like I am in a rain forest. The central savannah exhibit is easily my favorite just for the fact that there are so many animals interacting in the same exhibit. In addition, feeding the giraffes last summer was easily one of the highlights of my life.
I really could continue raving about this zoo, but I wanted to make this brief. If you visit Seattle without visiting the zoo, you are definitely missing out.
