“Thank you Brandon Neville!”

Blue Sky Outfitters Whitewater Rafting
Reviewed 14 July 2014

This was our first time river rafting but I tell you it was way more fun than I ever expected. Especially having Brandon Neville as our guide. His teaching experience really enhanced his guide skills plus he was very personable, friendly and outgoing. Even though this was our first time (family of 4) river rafting Brandon’s skills, motivation and competence and attention to detail made us feel comfortable and safe and even propelled us to be experts by the end of the trip. Thank you Brandon Neville! Anthony

We opted for the Wenatchee River Express Half-Day Trip and it was perfect. Three hours total with no BBQ included. 11 miles and 2 hours on the river. Super fun, class 3 rapids. Sitting at the front of the boat, as I did, you will be soaked! Our guide Tim was experienced and knowledgeable.

We did not use wetsuits because it was too hot. My only recommendation is to bring your own booties because otherwise you will be using wet used ones and they smell so moldy and gross: BEWARE!

This was our first time whitewater rafting, & we had a blast. The guides were knowledgable and safe. We had a great experience, and would return.

We had an awesome time rafting the Wenatchee river for a high adventure outing with 13 to 21 year olds. Awesome trip with Ariel as our guide. Already looking to book another trip!

This was our second experience with Blue Sky. Last year we did a one day rafting trip where a great time was enjoyed by all so we came back for more. This year we did three consecutive days of rafting on the Methow (2days) and Wenatchee rivers. Three Scoutmasters and 13 Scouts found the staff to be knowledgeable, eager, safe, friendly and ready to share what they obviously love to do with all of us. The gear was okay, many wet suits had large holes and missing lots of zippers which makes it harder to keep skinny little 12 yr old kids warm, and the company didn't have a effective solution...not for lack of effort, but for a lack of planning. (I had voiced this as a concern prior to the trip but was reassured they would have plenty of appropriate fitting gear, which was not actually the case) I see this more as a company problem and not the guides who actually gave the kids some of their own gear to try and help out. Still shivering kids had a ball, but their only complaint was the cold (not the weather).

Now for the big issue, sadly Blue Sky has a business arrangement with the owner of a campground from which they can launch many of their Methow trips....we chose to stay there based on that the Blue Sky web page said many rafters do and it's ease of rafting proximity. Unfortunately this guy needs to seek substance use counselling ASAP. We heard he was a "good guy" Sadly that is not who we had to deal with and we did share our concerns with the rafting Co. owner as this put a serious damper on our experience with Blue Sky due to the association factor. I'm being very kind and mellow in how this affected us. Having a drunk camp host in your tent site is way way out of line in my opinion.
One last comment that I think falls a bit on our responsibility we thought we were the only clients for our rafting trips, but turns out others were placed into our group...which can be okay if you don't have adults dropping F bombs and swearing due to the fun they are having...so while the spirit of the language is understood, it's hard for me to explain to parents why their kid had to listen to that for a couple hours while rafting with us. (They did attempt to refrain themselves when asked)
Would we do it again with Blue Sky....YES! Just skipped their campground suggestion, be clear about who would be in our boats and hold them accountable to enough small gear without holes and with zippers!
