“Wonderful stay at The Maxwell Hotel Seattle”
Reviewed 11 January 2014

We where really lucky with a choice of hotel when we stayed the four of us 2 couples over 3 nights in last November 2013 at the Maxwell Hotel. The room was great comfortable and very modern boutique style interior. With a frigde in the room which we love to have acess to. The location was very conveinient and nice - close to the Space needle f.ex. And what was of most importance was the service and very friendly staff which was open to assist in every way aexstreamly helpful and well informed of suggestion of what to etc...so we really recommend this hotel to others - Thanks staff of Maxwell Hotel for making our very memorable!!

This hotel was wonderful. Stayed here to see nutcracker. Room as very large and minutes away from space needle and monorail. Housekeeping staff was very polite and friendly. Loved the mini cupcakes. Only con: Front desk staff was not friendly and did not seem to want to help with questions. Besides that I will definitely stay here again.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review the hotel and let us know about your stay. We truly appreciate it. I'm very concerned to hear that you didn't feel taken care of by the front desk. I would love to discuss this further and please feel free to reach out to me at wbraden@staypineapple.com at your convenience. I hope to hear from you and also hope to be able to correct any behavior. This certainly is not the standard that we strive for.

This is our second visit to the Maxwell. We have family that lives in Queen Anne. It is the closest hotel of acceptable quality to their house. It is just a 5-10 minute drive up the big hill from the hotel to their house.

The location is perfect for us - as mentioned above, it is convenient to Queen Anne. It is also very close to the Seattle Center. My kids love the monorail, so instead of using the hotel shuttle to get downtown, we ride the monorail. The fish market and aquarium are a reasonable walk from the downtown monorail stop. (My 4yo rode in the stroller, but my 7yo did the walk with no whining.)

The beds were comfortable, as long as you sleep in the commonly used 'sides'. One night I was in the least used spot and there was a distinct slope to the middle. However, the other spots were great. I particularly like that they have queen beds instead of double beds.

The pool is too cold to be useable. This was the case both times we have stayed here.

The parking spots are tiny - so do not book a big SUV as your rental car, unless you are very skilled at parking. However, they are free - which is a bonus!

Overall, I like this hotel and will stay there again.

Thank you for letting us know about your recent stay and we hope to continue to take great care of you many years to come. I'm happy that the location is perfect for you and that your kids like the monorail (I think that it is pretty neat too). I'm sorry that the pool was cold. We definitely check it and recently corrected a heat pump. It should be back to normal now. We apologize for the inconvenience.

My wife and I recently spent two nights at the Maxwell during the Christmas holiday. Having read all the positive reviews on Trip Advisor, we looked forward to our stay and we were not at all disappointed.

Our twin bed room was very large, spotlessly clean and had an ultra-modern bathroom and shower. Complimentary water bottles, coffee and tea added to the conveniences. The hotel is literally one block from Seattle Center with all of the sights within walking distance. We took the free shuttle to the waterfront where we visited the Aquarium and strolled downtown. The shuttle is an exceptional amenity and affords you easy transportation to downtown Seattle.

The coffee and pineapple "reception" in the afternoon was another nicety that reflected the hospitality of the hotel.

The only reason I didn't give the hotel the highest rating was the lack of friendliness at our check-in. After a very long plane ride from New Jersey and a late evening shuttle from the airport, it might have been nice to have been greeted with a smile. Perhaps because it was Christmas evening, the regular staff was given the night off. That said, courtesy should never have a night off. Fatima was not at all welcoming and did not give us a good impression when we checked in. I have to say, however, that on all other occasions, the staff was personable and accommodating.

We definitely plan to return to the Maxwell when we again visit Seattle.

Thank you for choosing the Maxwell Hotel and thank you for the wonderful review! We truly appreciate your feedback. I'm so sorry that you didn't receive a warm reception from our front desk agent. She is still in training and so please forgive her lack of courtesy. We certainly do not want you to experience this kind of service here and I'm glad that you experienced better service throughout the rest of your stay. Please come back and see us again soon!

Found this little gem when looking for a place to stay for the ncaaa womens championship volleyball. It has an excellent location near the key arena and space needle with lots of great restaurants within walking distance. There is on site parking but it cannot accomodate pickup trucks or big vehicles in the parking garage. It has a little brick oven pizza restaurant on site and a coffee and mini cupcake reception everyday around 4pm. Location is great rooms are clean and new. Gym is very small but useable, treadmill and bike and one machine. Pool is nice and bright and clean. I would highly recommend it.
Tips ...location near the tram that will take you downtown for 2.25.
Hike up the hill catch the bus down to the stadium for the seahawks game.
Easy walk to Toulose one of the better night spots.
Great place to get forgotten items at grocer right up the hill also.
Pretty much one stop shop neighborhood for entertainment food fun.

Room Tip: Liked the rooms higher up in the back for quiet night. Front side higher up would view space needl...

It was great to have you stay with us! The Key Arena is definitely right around the corner from us in the Seattle Center and we welcome everyone from sports fans to concert-goers. The complimentary parking has a good number of spots and some are large enough for trucks but we can also create solutions for large vehicles at the front desk. We are happy to help! Thank you again and we hope to see you soon.

My partner and I stayed here in late December and we found the hotel to be just what we wanted. The lobby staff was so nice and they also had free tea, coffee and cupcakes in the lobby for guest to enjoy.the rooms were huge and the beds were very comfortable. The hotel was close enough to walk to the monorail, which takes you into the city and also there is a shuttle if you would like to book that. There is a lovely sports bar under the hotel which serves good pizza if you are just looking for somewhere to chill out. Would highly recommend staying here.

Lots of hotels throw around the "boutique" handle these days, to the point where it doesn't mean much anymore. This one has enough style to where you won't wonder why they might have used that word.

After passing through the plain exterior, you'll be struck by the large lobby that's colorfully decorated. People make use of it, for good reason, to socialize, read, eat a takeout meal, just hang out.

Our room was big, very big. Even the bathroom was big. The decor is festive, the floors are some sort of faux-wood composite. The beds were way up there for hotel beds, a major issue for me. They're kind of soft, because of the top layer, but that's for comfort on top of a firmer layer below. They're supportive and comfortable.

One negative was that the room is dimly lit, moreso than any hotel room at this level I've seen. There's enough light to read, but barely, even with all the lights turned on.

The location is terrific, near downtown, a block from the Seattle Center, at the edge of Queen Anne. You can walk to cafes, restaurants, Belltown, even downtown, if you want to. With a car, lots of good neighborhoods are within 10-12 minutes.

Thank you for letting us know about your stay and we enjoy taking great care of our guests. We are certainly looking at ways to make the room a bit brighter. We do use energy efficient light bulbs so the longer they are on the brighter the room becomes. Thank you again and we hope to see you again soon!
