This hotel definitely does have some nice elements -- the decor, for example. It's relatively new, clean, and the parking was free and convenient. The free internet access in the room was quick and easy. But overall, it was billed with more hype than it delivered. It pretends to be hip and urban, but it's just a small-town hotel with limited amenities:

-- Our city view room with king bed was small, and the bathroom had barely enough room to turn around in. And don't bother paying for that city view. Ours was obstructed by neighboring buildings.
-- Breakfast is merely weak Starbucks coffee, some boiled eggs and a lot of sugar and bread. Go down to the Portage Bay Cafe instead and buy a remarkable breakfast.
-- The shuttle service that supposedly makes several downtown stops made just one, and the latest pickup back to the hotel is 7:30 p.m.
-- The wine tasting had an expansive list -- but it was limited to two tastings (each of which was about three sips). No cheese or bread was offered with the tastings.
-- There is no room service, and no food at the restaurant on weekends. The week night menu is very limited. However, the nearby Portage Bay Cafe is excellent! However, it closes at 3 p.m. and there's nothing decent within walking distance. If you want to eat dinner, you'll need to find your own transportation or you'll need to take the shuttle downtown (and remember, you'll need to catch the last shuttle back by 7:30 p.m.)
-- There's no pool. If you want to swim, you'll need to walk to a neighboring hotel.
-- There's no express check out; no pre-bill under your door on the day of your departure.
-- Forget the "carts." You get to choose just one, regardless of the length of your stay. We chose the CD cart, which amounted to a boombox left on the bed.

This hotel is a small treasure, and should be complimented for the wonderful hospitality I enjoyed while there. My husband had surgery at UW Med Center and not only was their location ideal (with complimentary shuttle service to the hospital), but the staff went out of their way to make me feel at home. The hotel's secure underground parking and the overall atmosphere in the hotel made me feel safe. I also felt welcome and totally comfortable sitting alone in their wine bar in the early evenings, where I could wind down with their complimentary wine tasting, and also where I enjoyed a couple of light dinners. Their complimentary a la carte movies were wonderful in- room entertainment. I'd recommend this clean and smartly decorated little hotel to anyone planning to be in the U district, not downtown Seattle. Its convenient walking distance to banking, eateries and shopping was also nice.

What a cool hotel. Definitely the place to stay in north Seattle. Love the shuttles to downtown, the U village shopping center and Adobe.

Now my favorite place to stay when I am not required to be in the downtown area.

Love all the extra touches like the alacarts.
The free wine tasting, cookies and breakast were awesome. The lite meal was perfect on one of the coldest nights in Seattle in a long time. We did not want to out for dinner too cold. The warm hospitality made the difference.

I also liked the added security touches of the keyed elevator.

Will definitely stay there again! Great Value!

This hotel is average with some interesting amenities. Most importantly, it is 5 miles from the city center, therefore the location relative to most of the other top 20 hotels is sub par. Seems the reviews on this site fail to really get that across. I was fooled by the hype and positive comments and not having travelled to Seattle, I was unaware of how far this hotel was from the others in the City. Definately not a top ten hotel in Seattle.

My husband and I stayed here on our way through Seattle last year. This is now one of his favorite hotels. I had lived in Seattle, so I knew the location, while away from downtown, was still near some great neighborhoods. Rooms were very clean and modern, staff was helpful, Starbucks and Tea all day in the lobby. We used the free loaner bikes, which were a great way to get around.
This was a great place to stay in Seattle, w/ lots of perks, at a very affordable price.
