Very pleasant hotel indeed - clean and tidy inside, rooms great with good amenities. Made a nice change to not be in a indentikit Holiday Inn/ Marriott chain hotel. Quiet in the room and slept very well. Breakfast could have been a little more inspiring but thats nit-picking. Overall very good value indeed and a really good base if visiting or working at the University.

Great hotel. Rooms are contemporary and clean. Fridge and coffee maker in mini-suite (regular room). Comfortable bed and pillows. Good location. They have free bikes to borrow and ride around town....a very nice touch. In three days there on business I took a bike out four or five times. There is the awesome bike trail (Burke-Gilman?) a few blocks away which is perfect. Service was friendly and helpful. Even have a PC in the lobby for you to print your boarding pass. Breakfast buffet is better than usual. Recommended!

Okay - there are always going to be the odd, rare ratings that make no sense relative to the overall comparative ratings of a particular hotel. This is always kinda frustrating when trying to decide on a place to book, but when considering the Watertown, please take those ratings with a grain of salt.

This is my second stay here, and it's a FANTASTIC hotel, in a great location. The property is in the university district, very close to UW (worth a visit), just close enough to downtown, and very convenient to the freeway.

The staff is very nice, helpful, and assisted with dinner recommendations, etc. There aren't "doormen" falling all over themselves, but that's a good thing. The rooms are nice, very classily decorated, and most importantly, the beds are very comfortable. The rooms have an almost nautical feel. The lighting is not dim.

I should note the parking area (structure, under hotel, FREE) is a bit tight, but very secure, with card only, fully gated-access. The complimentary breakfast is great, and the coffee is excellent. The breakfast area is surrounded by large windows and some bar seating that allows you to watch the UW students making their way to classes.

Never had any issues with "homeless" people, and probably saw alot fewer than you would staying at a big-box downtown. Since my 2005 visit, an older stripmall across the street has been replaced by a very nice set of low-rise condos, with businesses below, including a small bodega which was very convenient. This is one of the cleanest hotels I've stayed at, and it's in a nice area IMHO.

I think it all really depends on what you want out of a hotel. If you want all the phony "service" amenities (turn-down, doorman, etc.) then the Watertown may not be for you.

If you want a classy, clean, nice, unique place to stay in a really cool part of town, near the prettiest PAC-10 school campus there is, then stay here.

Two suggestions for improvement - the fitness center needs to have equipment updated, and it's time for flat-panel TVs.

This poorly lit hotel is in an awful neighborhood (more about that later). My room was very noisy, even on the top floor - hotel is on a really busy street. The bedspread was filthy. The carpet was stained - this hotel needs maintenance. The staff is surly. And - on a Sunday morning at 10 am - I was hit by a homeless person, while walking 20 feet from the hotel. So if you want a noisy, dirty, and unsafe hotel, with staff that doesn't care, that's Watertown Hotel

My daughter stayed at the Watertown while visiting the University of Washington, which is only 4 blocks away from the hotel. The hotel is wonderful and the staff just awesome! We did encounter a noise problem in our first room which faced the main street. The street noise outside kept me awake and so I changed to a quieter room. The quieter room, however, was smaller than my first room. In the future, I will request a corner room in the back of the hotel, so as to get the large room and a quiet location. The other problem I had was that there was no inexpenisive transport to or from the airport. I believe this will no longer be a problem in the near future, since the subway will run from downtown to the airport, and the Watertown's shuttle takes guests downtown. Back to the positive points -- the delicious cookies at 3 pm every afternoon, 24/7 tea coffee & cocoa available, spa cart with foot bath, comfy bed, good breakfast, smiling and helpful employees, and computer with printer available in lobby.

Great hotel. It's on a nice and semi-quiet street near the university and you can see students biking their way to school. The room is spacious and exceptionally clean. The staff is very friendly. The complimentry breakfast is above aveage. The hotel provides free shuttle service to and from downtown Seattle. I took the adventurous route coming back from downtown and hopped on a Seattle metro bus, which was fun. Lastly the price is very reasonable for these type of hotel, i felt money well spent.

Definitely staying here if I ever visit seattle again.

My wife and I stayed on the 5th floor overlooking the UW neighborhood for two nights while our hardwood floors at home were being refinished. We chose the hotel because we wanted to be in Seattle but didn't want the expense of downtown parking. The free hotel shuttle made that possible as we wanted to go downtown to see the ginger bread houses at the Sheraton, the Teddy Bear room at the Four Seasons, the carousel at Westlake Center and walk Pike Place Market stalls. Enjoyed lunch at Kell's Irish Pub, too.
Underground parking was convenient and secure, requiring our room key to access. The room was well laid out including a TV that could be rotated from the bedroom to the bathroom/dressing area. The closets opened both to the bedroom and the bath. This is the only hotel we've stayed in where a achohol wipe was placed under the phone and by the TV remote for use by the guest to clean each item. Nice touch.
Lighting in the room is inadequate as the hotel uses CFLs that do not provide adequate light, especially at the desk. We used the free wireless internet as we had our laptop with us.
Morning continental breakfast was adequate but not overwhelming. Eggs were cold, sausage warm. Didn't use the exercise room but it appeared to hacve three or four machines and maybe six or seven bikes on a rack on the wall, those available to guests for use. During the Summer when the weather is nice, the availability of bikes is a good deal given the fact that the Burke-Gilman bike trail is about five blocks away.
Staff very friendly and helpful with suggestions and directions. Would stay here again should the need arise.
