My daughter and I stayed at the Mediterranean Inn when we went to a Mariners game in April. We have stayed here many times on our weekend trips to Seattle and love it! The staff is great, friendly, helpful and always willing to answer any question you may have. The location is the BEST! Great eating places just a block or two from the hotel and a grocery store just around the corner . You can't beat the price of parking in the hotel's garage, $15. Seattle Center is just two blocks away and we always take advantage of the monorail to go downtown or we walk down to the waterfront that's just a few blocks away. All in all it's a great place to stay for a night or even for a longer stay. The rooftop patio is great especially at sunset with a good bottle of wine!

If you are planning on a cruise out of Seattle, this is a perfect place to stay, either before or after. We arrived around 9am after our cruise, they had a room ready, and for 20 dollars more you could get an early check in.We declined the early check in,then the Manager came out and let us have the room with out the fee,so we were able to go straight to the room.AND WHAT A ROOM,it was excellent ,you had a fridge, micro, room to sit under the window, the bed was great, and a lovely clean room. You can easily walk to the Space Needle, there is a bus just down the road, which takes you down to the market, etc: There are eateries around the corner ,a lovely Irish Bar,a 24 hr Safeway only100 yds away, all in all..... A GREAT PLACE TO STAY

My girlfriend and I spent three days here while she was considering attending UW for grad school. The location was perfect - the UW campus was a short bus ride away, and found plenty of amusing attractions in walking distance (Space Needle, EMP, Olympic Sculpture Garden, even Downtown isn't a bad walk).
The room was quiet and clean, and the bed and furniture were very comfortable.
The staff was very helpful. I needed help finding a specific bus, so they printed a map and schedule for me. They also stored my luggage safely for a few hours after I checked out.
The rooftop deck is also a must, with great views of Mt. Rainier, Queen Anne, Downtown, the Space Needle, and Puget Sound.

Based on other reviews, I decided to book this place with my parents for our pre-cruise stay (2 nights). Loved every aspect of it! The best part is the rooftop deck access. You can see the sunrise coming over the Seattle skyline and sunset over the mountain range. My father loved the fact that he can go downstairs to the lobby and they had an entrance to Starbucks (no discounts staying at the hotel though).

We stayed in a room which was around the corner from the stairs and really close to the elevator which was a great convenience. The room itself was clean. As my father says, "I know it is clean because it smells clean". There was even a DVD player in the room.

If you are coming here to visit the tourist attractions ( Space Needle, Pacific Science Center, EMP, Key Arena), BOOK HERE!!! You just go down four blocks or so and you are on the side of the Key Arena.

And even if you don't want to go to the tourist attractions, the neighborhood around the area is amazing too. You have a movie theater that shows Indie films, lots of restaurants including Thai, Indian and Irish pub, and plenty of public transportation buses that stop nearby. I would also like to suggest a restaurant about two blocks down called Peso's which served really good TexMex food.

The staff here is wonderfully helpful and friendly. They also know the area well. They helped us with our many questions and even asked for a shuttle service to the ferry dock for us.

The two things we did not like is that we had no air conditioning unit and we had 70 degree+ weather. It was hard to sleep at night because we had a fan and it was connected to the little hallway light. We opened our window as wide as we could but it was still very warm and stuffy. Also instead of a closet door, it was just a curtain that covered the closet space.

PROS:
Rooftop access
Clean rooms
REALLY close proximity to Key Arena, Space Needle, Pacific Science Center.
Up and coming neighborhood
Helpful staff

CONS:
No Air Conditioning
No closet door (fabric covers the closet space)

Our stay at the Mediterranean was perfect:
Super location, very nice staff, rooftop terrace with awesome view on space needle and skyline, clean, quiet, 24h metropolitan grocery market around the corner, movie theatre a few steps from the hotel, 100% non-smoking, internet computers in lobby. We were early but could check in which was great after a long flight from Europe!
It didn't bother me but a few minor details to mention: the king bed was kind of small, there was no in room safe and the curtains are dark but do not make the room completely dark.
I would definitely stay here again, you can get a good deal keeping an eye on the booking sites!

My wife and I stayed two nights at the Mediterranean Inn while I was attending a conference in Seattle. Our room was clean, comfortable, and had a decent view, and was maybe half the price of hotels in downtown Seattle. An internet connection is $5/night plus tax, and bikes can be rented there, also for $5. Parking is $15; the underground garage is cramped, but safe, and elevators go from the garage to sleeping room levels.

The Lower Queen Anne neighborhood is a short bus ride away from downtown Seattle, or a monorail ride after a few minutes' walk through Seattle Center. The Space Needle, Experience Music Project, Key Arena, and other attractions are in Seattle Center, and there are bars/restaurants and a Safeway open for late arrivals.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the outside of the hotel, so you don't overlook the courtyard. If you want to...

When we checked into our room, there was no heat and the window didn't close, and we overlooked the alley. The desk clerk was rather brusque, but got us another room on the 6th floor overlooking the street. But when we went to open the door, it wasn't locked and we discovered it didn't latch at all. When the clerk was notified again, he got grumpy and complained (jokingly) that we were being difficult. We moved to the room down the hall (in room safe didn't work, but we decided we had caused enough drama). After that, things were ok. Not a good way to start off a guests experience.

The hotel has some positive things… POSITIVES: close to Seattle City Center (EMP, Space Needle, Monorail), Clean rooms (extended stay style), funky cool neighborhood (Queen Anne), lots of amenities close by (grocery store, great local restaurants, etc.) Starbucks in the lobby, GREAT VIEWS from the roof top deck. Business center, exercise room, laundry room, bike rentals.

CONS: not a luxury hotel/rooms on the smallish/basic side, not all have AC; A little far away from the downtown core (but very close to great bus lines), Neighborhood a bit on the funky side (we enjoyed it, but not everyone would); No free parking (its expensive); no free wifi (there is in Starbucks); no "guest amenities" (no pool, no breakfast, etc - just fyi)

SUMMARY: It has an "upscale, hostel type vibe" and it feels a bit off the beaten path. As such you appreciate the neighborhood and need to consider it a part of the character of the hotel. Its clean, and taken care of, but its not a modern hotel. It has a sense of economy (skimpy hotel amenities, but again these can be off-set by the neighborhood ones), and seems like it could appeal to the type of traveler that likes to get off the beaten path a bit, be adventurous and see what other areas in Seattle may have to offer.

THINGS THEY SHOULD CHANGE: Service could be a bit better. Cut the rates on parking. Free wifi (no brainer). Better quality towels (just felt really cheap, scratchy). Black out drapes/curtains. In room directory of local amenities and attractions (leverage the neighborhood more). Use their deck (guest bbq on sunny saturdays?)

Room Tip: Get a room on the eastern side, as high up as possible - 6th- (better views). Enjoy the deck. Great...
