“Needs an update”

the fairmont is usually known for luxury but this place needs an update. the walls are old, the bathrooms are something from the 70's. certainly not the standards expected of a 5 star hotel.

Room Tip: stay if you are over 80

I think Fairmont does a nice across the board -- have stayed in Fairmont in Maui, Chicago and Seattle. I don't love old school luxury so this hotel is not top of my list from a style perspective, but I love how roomy they are. I don't think this hotel is special if you're looking for an experience, but it's clean, has a few posh touches and is spacious. If you want comfort stay here. If you want a more quintessential urban vibe with a little luxe edge this Fairmont is not for you. The staff in the business center were very helpful.

We stayed here as a family with 2 young children, we arrived late, they took the car, the luggage and just handed us our room key, no check in required which is perfect when you've got tired children. The room was big, the bed was comfortable, they even had 2 child sized dressing gowns. The staff were all lovely and helpful, the food was great (free breakfast for young children), nothing was too much trouble. I've stayed in a fairmont twice before and have never been disappointed

Very nice hotel. However, in line with the upscale level of the facility and Seattle downtown area, was very pricey. But if that is what you want this would be a good choice.
Lots of food choices withing walking distance. Parking was horrible as expected downtown. Be prepared for a real workout with the up and down of the hills when walking.
Rooms very nice, best I have stayed in for quite a while. Check in and out painless. Staff professional and helpful.

The Fairmont Olympic is a grand old hotel in the railway hotel tradition. The hotel though has kept up to modern standards. Very soothing and luxurious lobby. As soon as you walk in you relax and feel as if you should talk in hushed tones.

The hotel is in a great location, close to the business, entertainment and shopping districts.

Service was exceptional. My room key was waiting for me when I arrived so there was no hassle checking-in. I'm a member of Fairmont's Presdient's Club. I don't know if everyone can expect the same flawless, personalised service I got, but I suspect they treat everyone well.

The lobby lounge is a nice spot for a drink, but there are more affordable equally pleasant bars within walking distance, notably Purple Restaurant or the W Hotel bar across the street.

Avoid the over-priced hotel restaurant for breakfast and go to the Belle Epicurean coffee shop. It's attached to the hotel, accessed through the lower lobby. They serve the most decadent, freshly baked European style pastries. Yum!

Luly Yang is a hidden shopping gem adjacent to the hotel. Walking by the display windows you might assume it's just a wedding and formal-wear store. That is it's primary focus, but hidden in the back is a small boutique for men. They have absolutely the best selection of ties I've ever seen. Lock up your Amex before you go unless you want to go home with a clutch of new ties. They also do custom made shirts and suits.

Parking added $40 to the bill for one night.

As part of a 12 day trip through the Pacific Northwest we started in Seattle and ended in Seattle. Our plan was to stay the first night here and the last night at another hotel in Seattle...after our first night stay we cancelled the hotel for the last night and came back here. It was like stepping back in time, all the glamour, attention to detail, unbelievable service. They definitely exceeded my expectations.

We arrived via the Clipper Passenger Ferry from Victoria for an overnight stay at the Fairmont. It was about a 15 minute walk from the ferry terminal, Pier 69. We walked up through the Pike Place Market but we would recommend taking a taxi cab unless you have a backpack or manageable luggage & you can navigate hills & stairs. Upon checking in we were pleasantly surprised when given an upgrade to our room. Staff was friendly & helpful throughout our stay right from check in, to the fitness centre, restaurants, concierge & check out. We ended up in a bright, comfortable room with a view over downtown & the water. We spent a lot of time in the fitness/pool/sauna facility which was absolutely fantastic. In the morning I enjoyed a complimentary coffee bar down in the fitness area & had a chance for some quiet time to read the paper in the pool side lounge area. It was so peaceful & relaxing sitting in the courtyard looking out on the beautiful rhododendron trees. The staff (including the new trainees) working in the fitness area were courteous, respectful, helpful & fun. We were offered the hotel's town car service but it was a nice evening so we decided to walk to our destination. We had everything we needed in our room (makeup mirror, hairdryer, ironing board, & good quality bath amenities etc) which made the trip easy without having to carry all these items as walk on ferry passengers. We didn't have a car so there were no parking fees.We thought free internet was included with our package & upgrade but we could not secure a connection using our account #. Seems to be that we have been very disappointed with all the previous downtown Seattle hotels we've stayed at mainly for the reason that we never received the quality, comfort, service or value for the accommodations/hotel property we paid for. We have paid similar prices for other dismal & disappointing downtown Seattle hotels in the past but we now that we've found the Fairmont we don't need to stay anywhere else. Thank you Fairmont.
