“The Fairmont Seattle”

A fantastic hotel. The pearl is the Georgian room. I marvel at the plaster so much, sometimes I forget to eat. The staff are always pleasant and courteous. I have stayed there multiple times and have never been disappointed. It is expensive, but who cares when one receives value for money. It is the original site of the University of Washington, that adds a historic slant.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing west on the highest floor, then you will have a good view of the puget soun...

We chose to stay in the Fairmont in Seattle because we had stayed in a Fairmont years ago in Victoria BC. We were not disappointed. We had found a four-night special so the hotel ended up being a good value as well. The hotel is charming and has a very friendly staff. It is centrally located and we found that we were could walk to the Needle, the Chihuly Museum, the Art Museum and, of course, the docks to take the ferries across to Bainbridge Island. The staff at the Conciergerie were incredibly patient and helpful, explaining timetables, giving directions, and calling for ticket availability. Our room was nicely furnished, a bit too faux-Ralph Lauren, but that was the look of the hotel. Everything about the room was comfortable. The breakfast was excellent at the Georgian. The weekend brunch was even better! (The roof-top honey, granola, yogurt and berries actually tastes sinful, not healthy.) Lunch and dinner were less interesting but good nevertheless. The pool was beautiful, as if inside an orangerie. If I have a complaint it would be that the elevators were too slow :-) We would love to return.

I had read numerous reviews on the Fairmont Olympic, but I am happy to say that I didn't let those negative reviews stop me from staying here! The staff was wonderful and the location is close to all the top spots to see in Seattle. Yes, the hotel is a historic landmark, but beautifully furnished and well kept. If you need to use WiFi during your stay, be sure you sign up for Fairmont President's Club (free) so you don't have to pay for this service. We plan to make another trip to Seattle in the future and we will return to the Farimont Olympic.

Room Tip: Although we were not bothered by the street noise, you may want to request a room on the 6th floor o...

We took a short vacation to Seattle and wanted to stay downtown near all of the sites. Since we are members of the Fairmont President's Club, we decided to stay at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel. For the most part, it did not disappoint. The bed was SUPER comfortable, and the room amenities were great. The access to popular venues in the city is excellent, most being walkable from the hotel. If you need a ride, the hotel has a free car service for hotel guests that will take you to destinations within 1-2 miles. If you are a member of the Fairmont President's Club, the Wi-Fi is free.
However, there are some improvements that could be made, starting with the water pressure, which is not good. The air conditioning is not great either, due to the fact that the vents exist behind the window curtains and gets cut off when you close them. And may I say, no HBO in a 5 start hotel???? Really?? Fix that, ASAP!!

Room Tip: Corner rooms are bigger!

Our stay at the Fairmont Olympic began with a perfect lunch at the Georgian Restaurant there and dinner at Shuckers in order to accommodate the activities we had planned downtown. It was perfect for walking everywhere and we were totally spoiled by the attention to every detail in hotel service. The staff is perfection.

Room Tip: King suite is all you need. I don't think there are any "bad" rooms.

The hotel is beautiful, staff was friendly, but i was a bit disappointed with some little issues that i didn't expect considering the amount of money this hotel charges.
1. no free wifi -- i think it is a bit ridiculous in this day and age that hotels are charging for wifi, especially in large cities like Seattle where it is a tech hub of sorts and when you have a lot of business travelers.
2. carpet - ok, so i get it that the hotel is old, but i felt like the corners of the carpet right at the baseboards were dark and dirty. You can keep the antique charm, but get some clean/new carpets in there!
3. Parking - if you choose to valet park, it's $47, if you want to park yourself in the garage across the street, it's $37 -- and if you arrive after 5pm, the parking is $10. We parked ourselves since we needed to sort through our stuff -- it was such a pain to get out of the parking structure to get to the hotel, especially with a stroller and kids. The bottom floor of the parking structure, you still need to hit a few stairs, if you want to access the "handicap" ramp, you have to call a phone number!?!? We parked on level E, it says "elevator" this way -- we get to the door, and you have to go through stairs to get to the elevator!! So, we had to walk down one level to get to the elevator.
4. We were on the 4th floor and the windows aren't that soundproof. You can hear cars speeding by, ambulance, etc. I don't expect it to be completely soundproof, but it was like we had a window open.
5. The Cooling was terrible -- we had one vent, and it was on the windowsill. If you want to keep the drapes closed, you basically block the flow of cool air into your room. We had the room set to 55 and high fan. And really now, they can't update the thermostats??

Anyway, the hotel is nice, beautiful lobby, lots of history and charm, service was good, but the hotel needs some renovation. For the amount of money that we spent, i was thinking we probably should've tried the W. Overally, disappointed for the money.

Room Tip: The higher the floors the better

Thank you for being our guest. Please accept my apologies for the disappointments and any inconvenience you experienced. I am glad to read that our staff were friendly and could be of service, and I also appreciate your feedback. Please be advised that we do offer complimentary Wi-Fi in our lobby lounge to all guests, and it is also available in the hotel to our President's Club members. We would be happy to assist you in signing up for this complimentary service during your next visit. I am also pleased to share that do have plans in place to replace guestroom windows, and we continue to replace carpets throughout the hotel. I hope that we may have the opportunity to welcome you back, and that we may see you here again in the future.

Best wishes,

I stayed here for a birthday trip and it was amazing. The hotel is pristine and the staff are exceptional. Typically US service is good but this really was way beyond anything I have experienced anywhere else.

We were fortunate enough to get a suite and it was very roomy. There was a huge bathroom and separate living and sleeping areas, each with a TV.

Our concierge made some wonderful suggestions and booked restaurants for us. I was also allowed a visit to use their computer suite to send an important email at no cost, which was a nice touch. The bar does fantastic cocktails too.

Location wise everything in the city centre is walkable. In all I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.
