Description: Ivar’s Acres of Clams has unveiled a whale of a transformation at this flagship location on Pier 54, located on Seattle’s Waterfront overlooking Elliott Bay. Ivar’s Acres of Clams just completed a stunning remodel, the biggest in its 79-year storied history. The down-to-the-studs remodel includes expanded indoor dining space, a new massive outdoor patio, expanded state-of-the-art kitchen and a completely refreshed interior that pays homage to our iconic restaurant’s roots. Upon entering Ivar’s Acres of Clams you will be immersed in the history and lore of Ivar’s and our flounder Ivar Haglund. Original features of the Pier, which opened in 1901, including exposed fir beams and a refurbished Galbraith-Bacon & Co sign from the original tenant (some say the Seattle Costco of its time) were restored. With a more airy feel and expansive views, diners will enjoy views of the Puget Sound, passing Washington State ferries and fireboats from historic Fire Station #3. If you prefer al fresco dining, enjoy a stunning, new outside patio deck. Bask in the open-air breeze while taking in the sights and sounds of Elliott Bay, including the tranquil passing of ferries – and the occasional seagull friend. To satisfy your craving for Northwest seafood, our chefs have created award-winning preparations to reflect the season’s bounty, yet still showcase Ivar Haglund’s world-famous original recipes. Choose from wild Alaska salmon, deep-water halibut, Alaska King Crab, Dungeness Crab, jumbo prawns, manila clams and weathervane scallops, just to name a few. Be sure to check out our Pier 54 Fish Bar, which offers take-out service of Ivar's classics including award-wining fish ‘n chips, chowder and other seafood favorites. As part of the local lore, feel free to feed a few fries to the seagulls. It’s a photo opportunity worth sharing! Be sure to check out our virtual tour: https://goo.gl/maps/rG3RGF9nQ6o

You can dine on the pier when you purchase at the take out bar on the street or dine inside the restaurant. Outside the carry out seafood offerings are shrimp, fish and Clams etc but all fried. You can purchase these and eat at a table on the pier. They are a bit heavy but well prepared and very tasty.
The restaurant menu selection is more intensive and the quality of seafood better. The Prawns and Rockfish seafood dishes that we had were delicious.
The restaurant been there since 1938 so they must be doing something right and I would agree with this. Ivars offers an enjoyable dinner on the waterfront with a view

Stopped by for a bite yesterday evening on the way to the ferry and loved their happy hour in the bar. 4PM till closing. Fresh Oysters were wonderful and my Coho with crab and goat cheese stuffing was just the right size and taste. Add a $4 glass of Merlot and you have a great dinner with good service for hardy any money. My husbands Fish & Chips were yummy too! Where else can you get such a good dinner for two under $50 (with two glasses of wine) Love Seattle!!

Being from New England, I love clam chowder. This is by far the best I have ever had. Thick, creamy full of clams with a touch of bacon. Delicious.

We went to Ivar's to get both a great location to dine at and some local seafood. We showed up an hour early for our reservation, and even though it was very busy, we didn't have to wait long to be seated. (Note: our earliness was a result of Pike Place Market closing at 6 on a Saturday!)

Because of our party size we were not seated at a window table, but the water view was still excellent.

We started off with the Dungeness Crab and Goat Cheese Dip, which was a cheesy delight. The greatest disappointment of the evening was the House-Smoked Bacon Wrapped Fresh Alaska Halibut. We have never been served such thin pieces - anywhere. That was a shock. The chowder and other items were enjoyed.

What really stood out was the service. It was what brought our rating from a 3 to a 4. The waitstaff was attentive and friendly. One even had to rescue the lid from a ketchup bottle that had accidentally taken a flying trip to the floor of a nearby table. He was discrete and very nice, especially considering he had to also clean up the ketchup that flew across the floor with the lid. Our water glasses stayed full, and our waiter even checked to find out where the best sourdough bread we have ever had was from. (it was baked by the Essential Bakery.)

The food was zoo good that we order some to ship home! You will not be disappointed. We did both the indoor and outdoor restaurants. The outdoor is fast food and hectic. Take the time to enjoy your meal indoors.
