“Music's great, food ...ho-hum”
Reviewed 1 May 2014

Heard quite a bit about this place, so decided to check it out.
The menu's pretty unexciting, but we decided to try their crab cakes for appetizers.....which turned out fine. However, @ $15 for 2 pieces.....really overstated. Salad was a pear walnut salad...which was also so so. For entrees, we ordered the Northwest Seafood Stew $27 and Blackened Red Snapper $22. The stew wasn't too bad, was really tasty. My wife didn't care to much for the spices on the snapper, though I liked it. Bread wasn't brought out till the entrees...hmmm. Service was also just ok, but maybe that's because they only had a couple of waiting staff, for about 15 tables.
The band for the night was the North Sound Jazz Band, which was pretty good. They did some good numbers, and had the audience tapping their feet and applauding.
Overall, it was a fun night, though pricey and more $$$ for the value.

“Fun night with front row seats to very talented local jazz.”
Reviewed 8 March 2014

The intimate setting and quality of the music exceeded my expectations. Food was good but secondary. Enjoyable night!

“Jazz in Seattle”
Reviewed 3 January 2014

First, I wouldn't necessarily call this place a "restaurant". It's definitely more of a live music (jazz) bar with food as an obvious secondary measure. My wife and I went for late night drinks and music here and were pleased with the jazz we heard. Drinks were a bit pricey but reasonable. Can't comment on the food but we had no reservations and the hostess was nice enough to still find us a table by the stage area.

“Sorely disappointed”
Reviewed 20 October 2013

We were so looking forward to a nice evening with great jazz music and good food. But the food was definitely not worth it, far over-priced for what it was, and the service was lacking as well. The appetizer didn't look much different than a frozen Tombstone pizza, and the lobster ravioli was almost cold. Sent the ravioli back to be warmed up, but it appeared that they made new, and again put it on a cold plate, and served it almost cold. Taste was not so good, either. I very rarely leave food on my plate, but couldn't come close to eating half of it, and then later in the evening, really wished I hadn't touched it. My husband wasn't impressed with the jazz band in the least, and they didn't seem to be having a good time, either.

“Big band in cosy venue - a memorable evening”
Reviewed 30 June 2013

Hesitant because of some TA reviews, but keen for live jazz and with big band on the programme (changes nightly) we (~50) went. The Cascadia Big Band were enthusiastic and good and the venue didn't disappoint apart from closing abruptly (Monday night). We had a ring-side table, attentive service and made ourselves comfortable. Good selection of cocktails, we ordered our meal in stages, no rush and enjoyed it. A pleasantly memorable evening.
Interesting trivia. 'Tula' in Africa means 'hush'
