Owner description: Kubota Garden is a 20-acre American-Japanese garden that was the vision of Japanese immigrant Fujitaro Kubota when he purchased the first 5-acres of logged off swampland in 1927. The garden grew to 20-acres and was developed concurrent with Kubota's landscaping business. He returned to the garden and continued its development after being incarcerated during WWII. In 1981, the 4.5 acre core was designated a Historic Landmark, and the City of Seattle purchased the garden from the Kubota family in 1987. The garden is an urban oasis, criss-crossed with streams and paths, ponds and waterfalls, rich with flora and fauna and a popular destination year-round. The garden is maintained by the City, and supported by the Kubota Garden Foundation.

On our first visit to the Seattle area we also wanted to visit a couple of the gardens here. The Kubota gardens were spectacular! Visiting on May 2, the blooms were terrific and a wonderful spring day to wander through the gardens. So many things to find around each corner is a new view.
Had a little trouble finding our location on the brochure map, but this was a very minor issue. A true gem of the area that should be on the "Must See" list!

This is truly a gem of a Japanese garden that is really quite large with lots of "secret" walks and paths, a rambling creek with small waterfalls and lovely rhodendendrums. Be prepared to walk and enjoy every minute of it. Bring your camera. The neighborhood it is in is not the best but there were lots of visitors when we were there and we never felt unsafe. So glad we went.

I am lucky enough to have best friends that want to show me something spectacular every time I come into town. This was no exception. We took a little picnic of wine, chocolate, cheeses and nuts down to this garden and it was so worth the drive. The grounds were immaculate, the weather perfect and the company the best! One of my favorite things about Seattle are all the wild bunnies and this garden was full of them! Not gonna lie, wanted to take one home. :) anyway, if you like tranquil nature scenes and the flora and fauna that come with it, this is a must go!!

Just sent this last weekend. It is a nice place to stroll and enjoy the spring flowers - cherry tree, tulip trees, rhodadendrum, camelias, azalias, large grqassy areas for the kids to play on or have a picnic. Several folks were taking professional photos - i,e, for engagements etc., but would alsobe good for nature photography. We took a 2-year old and he loved the little waterfalls and japanese bridges. I bit difficult to get to without a car.

You can not get too lost in this city park, but the plants are varied and is usually peaceful with a pond, fish and seasonal plantings.
