Review of Waterfront Streetcar - CLOSED

Waterfront Streetcar
Reviewed 2 July 2013 via mobile

Too bad that King County Metro only has a bus on the route. The original streetcar was great, but it appears that it will never be back. Route 99 is good to get around the waterfront, but is not nearly the same as the streetcar was.

A fun and easy way to get around downtown Seattle. You can see the sights and it is helpful navigating some of the construction projects underway.

The waterfront streetcar was fun to ride while it was there. But it is essentially gone. The tracks are there. And, actually, the streetcars are still stored in a facility somewhere in Seattle. It was closed down several years ago when they needed the location of the maintenance barn for the Seattle Art Museum Sculpture Park. Also, the project to replace the Alaskan Way Viaduct makes the use of the tracks impractical. There is talk of how to use the streetcars again someday, but for at least the next few years they are not in use.

Heard on the news tonight that the Trolly is planned to make a comeback in the space where the viaduct is now, once the tunnel is done. It would be nice to see them come out of mothballs and go back in service. Now all we gotta do is get rid of that poor excuse for a sculpture park.....

The trolly has been abandoned forever. The tracks are still there to rust away, tripping the lost cruise passengers looking for their boat. All in the name of progress or something.
