We recently took several ferries, both to Bainbridge and to Vashon Islands as pedestrians. Although the stations look like urban bus stations, the ferries are anything but banal. Beautiful views of Seattle, the harbor, the Sound. They leave as scheduled, and the schedules are frequent. Cars, trucks, motorcyclists, bicyclist, and pedestrians load up and disembark quickly, and while on the ride, can sit in at tables, old theater-style seats, walk around, or go the the dining area and order a meal with a beer.
These ferries allow citizen movement and commuting to lovely islands without cluttering up the Sound with bridges. Very impressed with the system.

We took the ferry from Edmonds to Kingston and back while covering few places in Olympic National Park. We just drove right in the the huge ferry (Walla Walla) with our car. I had never been on such a huge ferry in my life. The ride was so smooth that I didn't even realize when the ferry actually set sail. The on-boarding and off-boarding process is also quite seamless and very efficient. The sitting area on the top floor is huge. There is a restaurant as well though we did not use it. The ticket price is also very reasonable. Free Wi-Fi available on board.

Took ferry to Bainbridge Island for a little wine tasting. It offers a nice view of Seattle in a comfortable setting. The ferry is insanely large and never knew it transported vehicles. After touring city it’s a great way to get off your feet for a half hour.
