The walk through the island was gorgeous. I love all the water and the lily pads were just amazing. I would go again.

Wonderful walk! Lots of birds, bugs and plants! Go on a dry day, in Seattle that might be tricky. There are benches to sit on, but not a great place to bring a picnic, however, outside of island there are lots of places to eat your picnic lunch. The whole park is beautiful. Blooms from February (Camellias) through the end of the summer.

If you visit the WA Arboretum, you must visit Foster Island which is within walking distance of the Arboretum parking area. We visited both locations for a total time of approx 4 hours.
If you have time, I would strongly suggest both, but in the summer its likely to be mosquito ridden in the marshy areas. Beautiful views, none-the-less of Lake Union, Univ of Wa and the Cascades.

An amazing little jewel of a walk for everybody. Difficult to tackle after heavy rains as the boardwalk gets very mushy, but if you go in dry weather, you will be absolutely taken with the view. After you walk through the trees, cross a couple of wooden bridges, and amble over the boardwalk in places, you are rewarded by views of UW, Husky stadium, boats flying by and beautiful homes on Lake Washington. If you're adventurous without small children, you can venture all the way to the Arboretum. All this for FREE. Get out there & check it out!
