I would have given this hotel 4 stars if the front desk had its act together. Judging from past reviews the staff here is great and I would agree that they are quite friendly, but here is the but... While checking in the person at the front desk did not know how to separate my reservation for two rooms into two separate bills. We were two couples each paying for our own rooms. He wanted each couple to sign an invoice that stated we were each to pay the price for both rooms, instead of each couple paying for their own room. Nope, not gonna do that. Then he had trouble making key cards and no surprise they did not work. When they did work, eventually, they only worked for one day and needed to get re-made. The front desk person said they would take something off our bill for the hassle, that didn't happen either. When we checked out, the front desk was able to separate our bill into two, but for a much higher rate than our confirmation. Nope, not gonna do that either. The only other con would be the obvious long flight up the stairs with our bags with no help offered.
Now here is the good part. Yes, everyone was helpful and they did try to get it right. There is complimentary wine, coffee and local newspapers which is a nice touch. Best of all were the beds. I would like to say this again -- yay beds! They were just right, with really nice linens and lots of great pillows. The Jr. Suite room had a desk, table and a leather couch and chair, which gave us a place to spread out a little. The bathrooms were not huge, but had enough shelf space to maneuver. The shower was quite nice and the whole room quite tidy and clean. The free wi-fi is a real plus as well. I really dislike that so many hotels are making you pay for wi-fi. Location was out of the fray, but within walking distance to everything.
Given the front desk situation I can only give them three stars, but I would give them another chance, because we had a great night's sleep.
