Had a groupon and after eating here, I wouldn't pay full bore. Having said that, the food (sushi) is mostly a little above average, but it is way overpriced. Now, the roasted garlic calimari is off the charts good and priced well. It is an appetizer. They have various rolls that have a sashimi on top. In most places there will be a slice of sashimi on each cut of the roll. Rain alternates between sashimi and avocado. I don't want to pay for avocado. And at 14 and 15 dollars per roll that is not what I consider appropriate. They call some rolls spicy, but were no way near spicy at least as far as I was concerned. One thing that kind of bothered me, but didn't happen to me was to watch the wait staff have an order or two in their hands and to be standing there talking to another wait person for several minutes and then delivering the order. I won't be back there are other sushi places in Seattle that are a better value. Website doesn't work.

We have gone to RAIN several times, but each time it is more disappointing than the last. With a coupon in hand, we sat down ready for some sushi. Unfortunately, the three sushi dinners that came out on the plate were so drenched in sauce that we thought that we were having an enchilada at a Mexican restaurant. Interplay of flavors makes for interesting tastes, but not here at RAIN. They were fighting so much on the plate that it was not enjoyable. If it weren't for the coupon, we would have rated it one star.

The food at Rain is incredible. We always end up ordering too much, but the flavors are always awesome. Great service also.

Fri 10/07/11 5:58pm Rain Modern Japanese/Seattle WA/rainsushiwallingford.com: most tables were filled when we stepped in, were greeted with a 10min wait, our daughter loves the hip music, the restaurant is long with small tables (fits 2-3) against the wall, we didn’t mind, we fitted into tight spaces before for good food, there’s also a bar, perhaps catered for busy up and going couples. The space is perfect for us, but not recommended for family of 4+. Our order arrived: a huge bowl of SEAWEED SALAD, not the normal finger bowl in other restaurant, do the small size; love the ROASTED GARLIC CALAMARI on top of a bed of salad, the side salad is a hefty portion, not just a few decorative leaves; BEEF SHORT RIBS was a bit chewy and too much sauce even the side salad; SHRIMP & VEGETABLE TEMPURA is nicely done but the beans a bit old, can’t say anything wrong with SAUTEED GINGER TOFU, the rice is a bit dry with the SAKE, yum SPICY TUNA ROLL, all went down with warm SAKE, oh the MOCHI ICE CREAM is bit like sorbet than creamy ice cream. Our waitress let us use the coupon even we ordered a few items from the Happy-Hour menu, yeah more points. Over all, it was a good meal, nice ambience, good service = good experience, we will come back to try more sushi. 4 stars

My boyfriend and I went as a date night. After standing at the front door for 5 minutes as the waiter continued to look at us and do nothing an employee walked in behind us, he went and got his apron on and helped us right away. He was training but we were willing to be patient. The rolls were fresh and unique and that is what we went there for. The service could have been better overall though.
