We stopped in here for an early dinner prior to our grandsons
middle school play. The atmosphere was cool and peaceful and the service was excellent. We have spent a sabbatical in northern Thailand and know and love the food. This was as close as we have gotten in the US

I discovered Bai Pai this year via a recommendation from the sushi chef and owner of our regular sushi restaurant. They are located in NE section of Seattle, on a busy east to west street (or west to east depending upon where you start). There is only street parking, which is not easy in the evening, but give all of this, it is worth it. Having had three dinners and one lunch there in the last three months, by wife and I feel it is the best Thai restaurant that we have eaten at in Seattle. The dumplings were to die for. The pork and shrimp filling is outstanding. The pad Thai is great; you can get it with any meat or tofu. My wife had the Tom Kai soup. She thought it was OK, but not outstanding. I have had the Buddha Delight and the Tri Colored Cod, both of which were terrific.

This should give you an idea of what the food is like. The ambiance is great. For dinner, white table cloths with candles and very nice modern look. There is a lunch menu ranging from $8.50 to 10.25 that includes more than the main dish.

Bai Pai puts a very good Thai meal on the table with nice ambiance.

We met friends here for dinner. They recommended it based on several visits for lunch.

The quality of the food was excellent. I would agree with what other reviewers have said.

We did have a problem when we were ready to pay. We should have asked for separate checks at the outset. The employee who ran the charges on our respective credit cards forgot to return my husband's card. Our friend calcukated on a piece of paper what we each owed and explained it to the employee. My husband got his card back before we left. There was some confusion when our friends checked their credit card charges a week or so later.

They thought they were overcharged but we finally figured out the discrepancy was a bottle of wine they paid for.

It would have been a more straightforward transaction if we had asked for separate checks in the first place.

We'd go back for lunch if we're in the area. A little pricey for dinner.

This is upscaled Thai -- white tablecloths and lotsa big white plates and a long wine list. But it's more than that: whoever is cooking is paying close attention to freshness and flavor. The results are a distinct step up from the average Thai joint. Service is attentive and helpful.

There are good vegetarian options, but not many: the menu's emphasis is seafood and meat. They have a very light hand with the chilies: to my taste, even the top end of the chili range is pretty mild. But that also means they're not relying on chilies for flavor. Vegetables are on the crisp side, sometimes verging on undercooked ... but they will adjust if you ask.

This has become our go to place for great Thai food where we know it will be consistently delicious every time. Our favorites are the Larb, Warm Steak Salad, Corriander Beef, Bai Pai Noodles, Tom Ka soup - the list goes on. The food here is always made with high quality, fresh ingredients, never too salty or greasy, and always prepared properly. The atmosphere makes this restaurant also stand out, decorated with large stone sculptures and paintings that seductively transform you to another country. Service is always friendly and professional. They have a great bar (try the Rosemary Lemonade (with vodka) or the Lychee Martini. They also do 'to go' orders as well.
