This is perhaps the closest hotel to the Washington Ferry system. It has a small set of doors, but an expansive inside. Everything I saw was very nice, and recently updated: entry/foyer with fireplace, nice front desk, beautiful staircase. In the rooms, I found nice furnishings (like a standalone Victorian-style chair), good work desk, nice bedding. The bathrooms were recently redone with marble and gold-colored fittings. This location does not have an exercise room, but will give you a complimentary daily admission to a nearby gym. It's a few (steep) blocks from the Pioneer Square station. Pioneer Square is not a great neighborhood, with a lot of panhandling (partially due to the large shelter & food pantry in the area), but it always seems quite safe to me, even late at night. Restaurants in the area are ok, but not top destinations. Hotels in Seattle are fairly expensive, especially in the downtown area (i.e., the Pike/Pine area near Pacific Mall). This hotel is a relative bargain, because the location isn't as spectacular. I've stayed a few times, and will return. It seems well-run, and nicely maintained, with knowledgeable and helpful staff.
