“Good hotel in north Seattle”
Reviewed 4 August 2011

We stayed at the Comfort Inn for a week while visiting family in Seattle, and found it to be cheaper and easier to get to than many of its competitors. The Comfort Inn is on Aurora (Highway 99) in the middle of a commercial area. The neighborhood doesn't look inviting when viewed on Google Street Views, but the hotel rooms are attractive and include (for some rooms) kitchens with stoves, ovens, refrigerators, and microwaves. The neighborhood is not scenic, but it includes a grocery store, several restaurants, and stories. The cost was an average of $102 per night with a AAA discount.

Not knowing the area at all, but seeing on the tourist map that Seattle provides it looked like this hotel was by Seattle Center on Aurora Ave. After a 20 minute ride and a $30 taxi charge from Pier 69 we reached the hotel. We explained to the day manager that we would like to transfer to either a Comfort Inn or a Choice hotel. He said that the closest was 13 miles north of Seattle. We tried to look hotels up on their one lobby computer (the monitor was behind a plastic window) but he had accidently unplugged it. Once plugged in their system was so slow that we decided to use out cellphone. We went up to our room (having to access the elevator using our room card which made us wonder about the safety of the area), made some calls and found a Comfort Inn and a Quality Inn at Seattle Center. We went downstairs, informed the mgr and asked to be transferred. He refused. We called a taxi, spent another $30 and traveled back to the city. The manager intentionally deceived us and then conned us into staying.

I am sorry you had difficulties during your stay. We do have a 24 hour cancelation policy and each of the properties are indpendantly owned and operated, so we arent able to transfer reservations. I apologize this wasnt explained in a manor that was exceptable.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review.

We have stayed at this Comfort Inn at least 8 times over the past 4 years. Clean, comfortable, good value compared to other Seattle hotels. Free parking and wi-fi, which is uncommon in Seattle. But the parking spaces are so small you can barely fit a compact car. Some are covered which is great because of the frequent rain. Good free breakfast with make your own waffles, cereal, muffins, oj etc. The property is on Aurora Ave, the old main highway through Seattle. With traffic, it could take up to 20 mins to get to the Space Needle area, but price is worth it. Close to lots of fast food, Costco and Sam's Club. The rooms are good size, with microwave and fridge. Comforatable beds and the rooms are clean, nice bathrooms with remodeled sink and tubs. The carpets are a little older and probably should be replaced soon. Rooms are quiet. Get an upper floor with downtown view - nice. The furniture is a little old, should get new tvs, But they include a dvd player with the tv, so bring your movies. For the most part, the front desk staff is nice ande helpful, but it depends on who is on duty. The night person is kind of grumpy. The main hotel manager is super nice. They will print out boarding passes, etc. for you. They have one free computer in the lobby. Nice workout room. They also have a washer and dryer. Good place if you are travelling to stop and regroup and wash clothes. Overall, the most reasonable place in Seattle with free amenities. Have stayed at many moderately priced hotels in Seattle area, this is the one with the most for your money. May not be the fanciest, but by far the best value.

Our experience at The Comfort Inn and Suites on Aurora Ave in Seattle WA was horrible! I booked my hotel through Expedia and chose this Hotel because we were traveling with a pet and they are pet friendly. When we checked into the Hotel, Dennis the Hotel Manager was very rude and didn't realize we had a pet and tried to charge us additional $25.00 a day after Expedia told us $15.00 per day which we believed we had already paid through Expedia. He argured with us and was so impatience about helping us understand what was being charged and why!! After a long debate he ended up only charging us $15.00 + tax for our pet.
When we got into our room it was very dirty and the pull out sofa had dirty sheets with hair all inside the bed and a HUGE PEE stain on the mattress!!! We called for clean bedding which we didn't recieve till 11pm that evening, which we had waited over an hour at that point. After calling Dennis 3 times he finally delivered the clean bedding! There were "NO" other rooms available so we had to stay in our DIRTY room! We were not compromised for the inconvience what so ever!! We will NEVER ever stay here again and Good Luck to those who are unaware. The entire Hotel Staff were all so very Rude!! The continental breakfast was average.

The room was decent except that I thought the bathroom was smaller than most Comfort Inns. Also, the breakfast room was really small and they had to put guests in another room to eat. Basically, if you had more that just a handful of people in the room where the food was it felt really cramped. There wasn't a lot of selection of foods to choose from. Finally, parking space is limited. It seem you have to park early to get a decent space. If you arrive in the evening then you have to park along the side or back of the building. If you could find something else I'd look into that before checking in here.

We are sorry you had difficulties with your stay. Property in Seattle is at a premium and we are an older building from before they super sized vehicles and unfortunatly we can not change that. As for breakfast, please watch for changes. We are always growing to meet our guests needs. Starting soon we will be adding several new items to our breakfast menu.
We appreciate that you took your time to give us your thoughts and hope you will reconsider.
Thank you

I arrived at this hotel a little before 3pm. I was travling on business and had two colleages that would arrive later. I had made the reservation on the Choice Hotels website. I have frequented other Choice Hotels for both business and travel. I've never had issues with using the company credit card.
Dennis had a real issue with me using the business credit card. He tried telling me that it was Visas policy to have a form for user authorization. Which it isn't. I've used the card many times and have never had to have that. He wanted my personal credit card to go along with the business card. He seemed quite disappointed with my absolute refusal. I filled out the authorized user form, as I am the person who does that in my office. If they are going to have so much greif over this it really should be in nice bold print on their website. Dennis then called my company, I didn't know he was going to do this, found out I was on the up and up. He and I didn't talk or even hardly look at each other the rest of the time when I walked by the desk coming and going.
The good part is, the room was clean and comfortable. The keyed elevators gave an extra sense of security. The tv remote was a bit of a puzzle as half of the buttons didn't work. The room had a dvd player, which is a nice perk. The minifridge was nice, but the room did lack a microwave. Which is really unusaul but not bothersome.
The view from the fourth floor was nice. The location was great. The rest of the staff were really nice and friendly.
Breakfast was the standard Comfort Inn fare of Waffles, cereal, toast, yogurt and boiled eggs. But the boiled eggs weren't little rubber balls, they were actually edible.

Room Tip: Book a double Queen room on the fourth floor.

Thank you so much for taking time to write your review!
As for the Credit card issue, We are very "cautious" for your safety as well as our own.
Our policy is that Business Cards must have the name imbosed under the company name, if it is not we request that the person making the reservation complete a Credit Card Authorization form. I will get updated procedures from Visa/Mastercard, ect....
As for the Maintenance issues with the remote, that will be taken care of.
We hope that you will come back and stay with us again soon to Enjoy the Newly updated Breakfast starting in May. And the view thats even better when we get sun in the Summer!
Thank you again!
Sincerly,
Andrea

Visiting friends in the Shoreline area, so we didn't to be downtown. We don't require trendiness just cleanliness and convenience. This hotel on Aurora Ave fit the bill nicely. Nothing extraordinary, but a very good value, clean, a good breakfast, quiet and safe. One niggle was a hot tub that had new chemicals put in and nobody to make it usable.
