“A home away from home!”

What tempted us to select this lovely little B&B Inn was the vaunted 3-course breakfast, and it did not disappoint. Far from it. They even tailored their regular menu to suit our dietary preference, which was a really nice gesture. Parking was also covered in the price, which while not exactly rock-bottom, was well worth the facilities, all things considered.

Everything about the place was very tastefully done; the room was impeccably decorated and clean, the bathroom likewise, the furniture very nice and comfy and the fireplace in our room provided great ambience and a nice contrast to the not-so-good weather outside during our visit.

I do not have much experience with B&B-s in general, but having had this greatly positive experience, I'd take a B&B of this quality over a hotel anytime!

The place is very conveniently situated, a 10-minute walk to the University of Washington which while having its own ambience and attractions, also enables one to take a convenient bus downtown to Seattle and so avoid the exorbitant cost of parking there, not to mention navigating the traffic on ones own.

Room Tip: Not sure of all room types, but ours had a fireplace and plenty of space, so if you have specifc nee...

Discovered almost by accident a few years ago, it is now a regular stop when in Seattle. It is a lovely B&B, each room and apartment are different, all with character and antique furniture.
The location is great for the WA University, street parking is available and free of charge with the permits of the B&B, right in front of the house. Breakfast could not be better, the menu rotates daily across the week, I probably had them all and could not say which is the preferred one. The staff is very friendly and attentive, the common area are very welcoming for a tea, a chat, reading a book or browsing.
Great place, feels like at home, highly recommended.

We stayed for a total of 8 nights here and stayed in the Northwest Chamber room.

We picked the Chambered Nautilus due to its location in the U-District as we were in town visiting people who live in the area. If you are visiting students at UW or anyone who lives on the inner north side of Seattle, the location is pretty good. The B&B is located about 5-10 minutes walk from U Village and 10-15 minutes walk from ‘the ave’. You’ll have to climb stairs to get in either direction.

The breakfast at the Chambered Nautilus was amazing. I am gluten free (celiac) and they catered very well to my dietary needs and were always attentive and concerned about making sure I didn’t get sick. I found breakfast to be very large, but it is a hearty meal and will be sure to leave you filled up for the day. Breakfasts are communal and we met some seriously cool people at breakfast – so get chatting! On our last day when we had to leave early, we were left with a basket of fruit and baked goods to take to the airport with us – a sweet touch.

Our room (Northwest Chamber) was a little cosy however this is as you would expect in an older house. We did, however, have a walk-in area to place our bags and hang clothes which was lovely to have everything out of the way. The bathroom is also quite small but does have a bath. We also had a slight problem with the toilet, but as soon as we informed the innkeepers, it was fixed that day.

All in all this place had more of a feel of ‘home’ than ‘hotel’ which is great if you are staying for the week like we were.

We picked this B&B based on the reviews on TripAdvisor and because of its proximity to the University of Washington.

Pros: Excellent breakfasts -- three courses, including fresh fruit and a hot entree. They are very flexible in their menu for vegetarians. Lovely common living room with a gas fireplace for reading, relaxing, sipping tea and munching on cookies at all hours or using the computer and printer. They also have game boards like Scrabble and a good selection of movies on DVD to watch in your room. Free on street parking -- never a problem getting a reserved space right in front of the B&B. Quiet neighborhood. Our suite, the University Suite, was large and quiet overall -- a good choice for parents traveling with one or two children.

Cons: The windows on both sides of our suite overlooked a courtyard that everyone passed through in order to get to their room, so you had to keep the shades drawn for privacy. Also, the University Suites are in the annex, which feels more like a motel than a B&B. The furnishings and kitchen are a bit dated, however, they are clean. Also, the fan of the heater in our room was so noisy (and it is right next to the bed) that I had to turn off the heater all night in order to fall asleep. If you really want to experience the charm of a B&B, I would suggest booking a room in the main house of the B&B itself (and you won't have to go outside to go to breakfast).

Overall: It was a pleasant stay. Nice staff, very responsive. Good value. Small, pretty garden. The University Suite lacked in charm, but was adequate for our needs.

Room Tip: If you are staying in the University Suites, choose either the Cascade Suite or Green Lake Suite. T...

We recently had the opportunity to stay at the Chambered Nautilus Bed and Breakfast Inn, within walking distance of the campus of the University of Washington in Seattle, WA!

The staff, breakfast and accommodations were all just perfect.

We stayed in the Ravenna Suite, http://www.chamberednautilus.com/ravenna.html, and were pleased to find our own kitchenette, living room and private bedroom.

We were able to print out our boarding passes for that day on the pc in the common room, and enjoyed visiting with other guests staying at the inn.

As that we were there on business, attending the #fieldtripday, we didn't have much time at the Inn, but enjoyed the little time we did have with Joyce and her staff.

As a retired Innkeeper myself, I can't say enough good things about Chambered Nautilus Bed and Breakfast Inn, and do hope when you are in the area, you'll check them out.

You won't be sorry!

Room Tip: If you are looking for complete quite and privacy, consider the Suites!

My husband and I stay at this B&B recently for the UW BSU football game. We found the location to be wonderful. The parking was great, evening on football weekend! And while other's have commented about the hill and stairway, I didn't find the walk up to the house to be a problem. The breakfasts were decent, but I wish they had a bit more protein. I found the staff to be incredibly friendly, and the prices were very reasonible. We ended up staying in the Northwest Chamber room, mostly because that was the last room available. I was told it was going to be the smallest room they had, but actually found the space to be very comfortable. Would highly recommend for anyone looking to be close to the university!

This is a very pleasant B&B in what I would call a "student-occupied" area of the University District. If you need or want to be in the University District, then this is a fine place to stay. I would not say it's the best place for more general touring of Seattle. The local neighborhood is not all that interesting. Our room was comfortably furnished, but the small attic room (can't remember the name) couldn't get cooled enough by the small AC unit. This was in early August, so in more temperate seasons this probably wouldn't be an issue. Excellent breakfast provided by the very friendly and helpful staff.
