“Group of 6 in the Cascade Suite”
Reviewed 23 August 2006

Six of us gals stayed in the 2 bedroom Cascade Suite while visiting Seattle. It was clean, simple and nice. Extra touches were robes for all six of us, water and chocolates in the fridge, fully stocked kitchen and teas and coffees, and even extra wash clothes in the bath for washing makeup off. In the main house there is a bar with drinks, cookies and fruit whenever you like.

The area of the B & B is nothing noteworthy except for the University Village shopping area around the corner. Downtown Seattle is about 10-15 minutes away.

The suite is in a non-distinct home to the north of the main lodge. As with all units at the Chambered, you must climb stairs. But even with two hip replacement gals, they did just fine on the stairs.

The only thing I would recommend is that the suite have a base charge for four persons (instead of 2) since it really is designed for four people and then add charges for the extra 2 (not 4). we paid $265 for six people for one night (base rate for 2 and then $20 extra per person x 4 people)

Just returned from a 2 night stay at Chambered Nautilus B&B, staying in the Cascade Suite with our family. We found this to be a very nice alternative to staying in a motel in the University District.

The suite was comfortable for 2 couples and a toddler...lots of space inside to roam. The Innkeeper, Joyce was very patient with our energetic grandson! The only problems we found were the parking permit we were given was for a lot which was in an apartment complex a half block away, which required backing out uphill and was a tad challenging! There are about 10 permit spots right below the inn, but our family had 3 cars for 2 rooms and only got 1 street permit. Also be aware of the stairs, which are mentioned in the web site for the inn. When carrying luggage, they are kind of steep. The gardens are lovely, the public rooms of the inn are charming! A nice place to stay!

Recently returned from a 4 night 5 day stay at the Chambered Nautilus in Seattle,WA. This was a very special vacation for 4 college friends who turned 50 this year. We wanted a place where we could stay in comfort and have the freedom of getting together in the evenings for champagne or wine and catch up on each other's lives. This was the perfect place. The living room area was comfortable and we never felt like we were in other people's way. The rooms were well appointed, and the breakfasts were out of this world. Dana, the innkeeper, repeatedly went out of her way to help us figure itineraries out for each day. She printed out information, made phone calls, and had wonderful suggestions for places to eat and things to do. On the one morning when we knew we would miss breakfast, she had a yummy "To Go" breakfast ready for us in our rooms. On the evening when we got in too late to reserve a breakfast time, she chose a later in the morning time for us where we could sleep in a bit. At any time of day or night, there was a cookie jar full of home-made cookies, a thermos of coffee, hot water for tea, and a basket of fruit.

One morning we watched a family leave, and we knew it was a special place when their young daughter threw herself into the arms of each of the staff that worked there. Everyone was friendly without being overbearing. We truly felt taken care of by the staff. I cannot say enough about Dana...she was AWESOME!!

After a week long conference in a chain of hotels in BelleVue I took the decision to stay closer to Seattle and to take advantage of the personal and homely environment offered by B&B's. The Chambered Nautilus was just perfect. Although travelling alone I was made to feel completely at home. Joyce is the perfect hostess and the accomodation is just out of this world. I stayed in two different rooms (Scallop Room and Garden Chamber) and they were both just wonderful. I have to say that after a hard week the B&B was just a delight, from the home made cookies and hot drinks (always available) to the delicious breakfasts. Also very useful was the free use of the computer and printer so that ferry times could be checked at the last minute etc. Although not in downtown seattle itself, downtown is no more than a simple 8 minute bus ride away which is no trouble at all. Personally I was glad I had opted to stay out of downtown Seattle and I would have no hesitation in recommeding this B&B to anyone. I look forward to returning again!.

June, 2006. We loved staying at the Chambered Nautilus. Joyce was a superb host. She knew all about the restaurants in the area and spent a lot of time on the computer doing even more research. We loved the breakfasts. They're full breakfasts and alternately sweet (like orange french toast) and egg-based. There are home baked cookies and fruit to enjoy anytime and chocolate when you arrive in your room. Bottled water is replaced daily. Our room was large and comfortable, with a side room for our luggage and a nice bathroom. There are books to read; and you're welcome to take one home if you start reading it and can't finish it. One cool morning, there was a fire in the fireplace. The attention to detail is amazing. Chambered Nautilus is the best bed and breakfast we've ever stayed at.

My partner and I stayed for two nights at the Chambered Nautilus recently. We have stayed there before when travelling to Seattle, and the experience has always been pleasant and relaxing. The house is nicely set up; the rooms are comfortable and quiet. Breakfast is always quite good. The owners are friendly and quite helpful -- one of us has strict dietary requirements, and they handled them gracefully.

The neighborhood is convenient to the UW campus (10-15 minutes walk depending on which part of campus), two blocks from the Burke-Gilman trail, and easy walking distance to the University Village shopping and eating area.

At the same time it's on a quiet, residential street. It's an especially pleasant place to stay on a quiet, rainy afternoon, when all one wants to do is sit with a good book in the library and occasionally look out at the rain in the garden. Which is good, since the CN is in Seattle :-)

In summary, I really like this place and generally try to stay there when I'm in town.

My husband and I stayed at the Chambered Nautilus on two seperated nights in two different rooms during the same week in November. Our first room was on the third floor and the second room was on the 2nd floor. We were very very pleased and will stay here again when we visit our daughter in Seattle. The rooms were clean with comfortable beds. The room on the second floor had a balcony but I preferred the third floor room for it's window seat overlooking the U district. Parking can be a pain but that is the U district. Breakfast was very good and conversation around the table lively. I also appreciated the use of the computer in the sitting room as I neglected to bring my lap top though every room is wired. Joyce is a kindered spirit who clearly enjoys running the B&B.
