Description: The Hillyer family is proud to take the helm of Pike Place Chowder, Seattle’s iconic chowder and a global culinary treasure since its founding in 2003. Located in the heart of Seattle’s Pike Place Market, Pike Place Chowder began with a simple vision: to craft the best chowders using fresh, sustainably sourced seafood and vibrant, farm-to-table ingredients. Many of our fresh produce selections come directly from Pike Place Market, and our rich, creamy chowders feature heavy cream from local dairies in Kent. What started as a cozy 20-seat restaurant quickly grew into a local favorite, with lines of chowder-lovers wrapping around the block. Our flagship restaurant continues to delight visitors with award-winning chowders, seafood rolls, and other fresh favorites. Due to overwhelming popularity, a second location was opened at Pacific Place Center, offering an expanded menu that includes crispy fish n’ chips, golden deep-fried prawns, our famous Chowder Fries, and a daily happy hour!

People will be waiting before the doors open, and it's totally worth it, after trying several places, that comes on top, the only downside , adding meat/pork to a seafood soup , which is strange but not for Seattle. Go after 2 the wait will be shorter.

Well, we saw the long lines, we read the reviews, we stopped by for lunch. We spent about twenty minutes in line, and then ordered clam chowder, a lobster roll and a crab roll. Now, we're from the Bay Area, so we know a lot about good bread. And originally we're from New England, so we know a thing or two about chowder. Our review: stick with the chowder, forget the rolls. The rolls were served on this totally plain, untoasted bread, which was flavorless, just like the fish. The chowder, on the other hand, was very respectable. Creamy, thick, served hot as it should be. Is it worth dedicating a lunch to this place? Not so much. For a snack? Bowl of soup in the afternoon? Absolutely.

I have been here a couple times and am always surprised by how good the chowder is. It is kind of hidden in the back alley of Pikes place market, but there is always a line there. There is even someone staffed to keep the line entertained/in check. They have a sampler so thay you can try multiple of the chowders, which is great. My favorite one is definifely the salmon one though; it is bomb. The staff is friendly and helpful and everything is great.

Terrific on a cold or rainy day. They are known for their chowders and often have a market chowder fresh each day. There are a few non-dairy choices as well. The restaurant part is small, so on crowded days expect to take the soups out and find a seat elsewhere like in the nearby park.

We had a sea food roll and the chowder sampler. The roll was good but nothing extraordinary. My favorite chowder was chefs choice since it had the most sea food. The sampler is a good way to taste them all!
