This is simply my favorite place to relax on a Friday night after a long week. The wine selection is great - I especially love the flights. Mixed drinks are great, too. I've been to Smash many times over the years and have always found the service friendly, prompt and professional. Finally, the menu is the perfect mix of snacks, comfort food and heavier dishes. I highly recommend the duck & shitake spring rolls, Dungeness crab cakes, warm spinach salad and paella.

A wine flight of three 3 oz. samples is a nice way to try out various wines. We chose the olives and the crostini plate from the appetizer menu as a palette cleanser. The staff was knowledgeable and attentive and even brought us more toasted bagette slices when we asked. It was a gorgeous day so the patio was the best place to enjoy the afternoon sunshine but they do have nice interior if the weather is less than stellar. A bit on the pricey side so happy hour is the best time to go.

Thu 3/15/12 7pm: Smash Wine Bar/Seattle, WA/Wallingford: Met friends to catch the breeze. Very cozy bar, a few tables, not crowded on a weekday, perfect to chat and sip wine. Most of us ordered snacks & deserts with our wine, one ordered dinner and she liked it. By the glass is not cheap, just to shoot the breeze. I’m sure most of their wine is top pick judging from the price. We’ll return when there’s an occasion in the neighborhood, but since the friends came from different neighborhood, we’ll have to try theirs before doing the rounds.3 stars.

Wow. Bumped into the owner, Dana, on our last visit. This was my fifth or sixth visit--and it's still just fabulous. We started out with a flight of Greek wines. What a surprise. Paired it with some wonderful warm spinach salad. Tablemate opted for the truffled mac-and-cheese. Ultra comfort food. The Greek wine was a big surprise. Dana specializes in the unique "flights" of three special wines. Worth a visit--over in the Wallingford neighborhood west of the U-district.

This is a great place right on the street in the heart of Wallingford. The hour and a half long happy hour has amazing dishes at even more amazing prices! I definitely recommend the mini burger and duck spring roll. Great atmosphere and if the weather's nice, sit outside.
