“Wonderful weekend with friends”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

I have never stayed outside of Paris before, but can recommend this location and the hotel without reservation. 20mins walk to the station, and 20mins into Paris (as long as there is not a French train strike, and even then we survived by using the metro!!!). Fabulous breakfasts, superb location with the forest and lake within a 5 mins walk, and a superb spa to rest and relax. We will be back!

Room Tip: All four of us stayed in the junior suite, which had a balcony overlooking the courtyard. It was sti...

I'm very familiar with Paris but was looking for somewhere a bit more relaxing but close by - this certainly fits the bill. Very easy to get to from Gare St Lazare, you feel instantly as if you have travelled miles.

The hotel is in a very tranquil location right next to the etangs, with a quiet central courtyard for aperitif.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful - I had neglected to book the Michelin starred Corot restaurant for Saturday, but they got us a table for the Friday when we arrived.

The restaurant was excellent - we are both a bit "gourmand" and went for the 5 course degustation menu - it was excellent, but we both felt a bit over indulgent at the end of it!

The next day we borrowed some bikes from the hotel and went for a ride round the etangs, over the hill and down into Versailles and then round the park.

My only (tiny) complaint was that the bikes were a bit old and I was unable to adjust the seat height, being 6ft 4 this was a bit of a problem getting up the hills, but as complaints go, it was hardly a deal breaker.

The second night we dined in the cafe des artistes - a simpler menu than Corot, but just as good with excellent service.

Overall, I couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough, our room (one of the suites with view over the etang) was spacious and very comfortable, the welcome and service was excellent.

A great destination for those who want a bit of peace for the weekend, but ease of travel to and from Paris.

We wanted to spend the weekend somewhere outside Paris but not too far. Everything from the hotel location (less than 30 mins from Paris by car), the facilities and the staff made this the perfect choice.

We spend half a day visiting Versailles but otherwise spent the entire weekend on hotel property. No need to leave as everything can be done in-house. We were unfortunately not able to dine at the Michelin restaurant as it was completely booked and we had not reserved, but the more casual restaurant downstairs (Cafe des Artistes) was delicious and reasonably priced. Breakfast very great as well.

Spa facilities were good -- modern, clean and very attentive service.

What I liked the most was the surrounding area. Huge forest literally a step outside the hotel with a lovely pond, so great views from the hotel. We went for a long walk in the trails.

Had a pretty disappointing experience at the bar on Saturday evening (very rude server, long waiting time) but otherwise impeccable service throughout. With the exception of the rude bar server, all the staff were friendly, professional and helpful.

I just got back from a stay at this lovely hotel, and loved it so much that I couldn’t wait to do the review! I was looking for a romantic weekend getaway not too far from Paris, and a friend suggested this place. For a mid-November break, this place was absolutely perfect and exactly what we were looking for. The hotel itself is very nice and seems like it was recently redone. The design feels very warm and luxurious (and smells good!!) and the staff are extremely polite, helpful and professional. I reserved through WeekendDesk the basic room (least expensive) but when I arrived I realized it was facing the road and I could hear the cars, so I requested to change. We were promptly moved to the next category up (had to pay 30€ extra but this still was discounted as it’s worth 55€ more) and had a view of the trees and part of the pond. The room itself was nice (very comfortable bed) and everything was clean, but it wasn’t necessarily the biggest or most amazing room I’d ever been in. It was classy and comfortable, so it was fine, and the TV and wifi worked perfectly. We mainly chose Les Etangs de Corot because it had everything we needed in one place: cute & romantic atmosphere, nice bar, two restaurant choices, and a hammam/spa/Jacuzzi. The outdoor Jacuzzi was nice and hot, then refreshing with the cold air outside. We hung out at the hotel most of the day Saturday, then ate at the restaurant ‘Le Café des Artistes’ for dinner. We ordered the Cote de Boeuf for two, and a lovely bottle of red wine. We were both very satisfied with our meal! Sunday morning we had the breakfast (which was included in the package we bought) and it was also very delicious (cold cuts, sausages, made-to-order eggs, smoked salmon, cheese, croissants, pains au chocolats, etc…). The hammam & Jacuzzi were super relaxing and the atmosphere was perfect for our romantic weekend getaway. The location is convenient (by car), and we visited Versailles which is about 15 minutes away before heading home. We will definitely go back the next time we’re in the mood for a nice romantic weekend away from Paris! (For reference: our stay of one-night for two people was 230€ total and that included: Supérieure room, breakfast for two, unlimited access to hammam/Jacuzzi & free parking).

Room Tip: Request a room that is *not* street-side as I could hear cars go past in the original room (#32) we...

We checked into this charming hotel around 7 pm. Immediately went down to the bar for a drink then downstairs further for dinner. First bad sign was nobody working the bar. We had to scout up help. After a drink went down to dinner about 8:00. We were seated and waited 20 minutes for a waiter. We ordered wine , water and dinner. Water arrived 20 minutes later but we had to flag someone down to get the wine. We are now an hour into this meal. No food--bread nothing. The salad and soup we ordered arrived about 15 minutes later. At 10 oclock there are still no entrees. A little heated ---I ask for a check. The waiter offers "we had a large group order just as you arrived"
After two hours that is all we received.

Excellent, until they send an automated mail, which took a bit of the shine away!
However, the staff are just excellent! The old, understated luxury of 'Vieille France'!
The spa is a hidden gem, the hotel is are on old chateaux grounds, and the decadence is just perfect. Make sure to know your bearings though.

A belated review of this excellent hotel; very comfortable close to Versaille and parc St Cloud - sights you should see when in Paris. The hotel is super value, room is comfortable and very good, clean, nice facilities, good bathroom.
The onsite restaurant is good, and you can have an excellent meal at half the price you would pay in central Paris. If you order some old bottles of Bordeaux, the price will of course take off a bit, a 1986 or 1988 premier cru would be more than a 5course meal just for the bottle, but stay a way from that and you will dine very well on a budget. Enjoy!
