“Great apartment in lovely location”
Reviewed 22 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

Can't fault this apartment. The kitchen/lounge area is bright and well equipped. Can get British TV which is essential for hubby during the Rugby World Cup! Set right in the heart of Marseillan, very handy for the morning run to the Boulangerie. We're having a great time here but there are two flights of stairs to the apartment so be aware of that. We haven't hired a car and have no problem getting around but do have to work out bus/train times as some run only 4 times a day. Went to Narbonne yesterday and had no problem.

Thank you so much for you lovely comments and taking the time to do a review. I feel the stairs are worth it just to sit on an early sun filled evening on the terrace with an apero!

“Comfortable apRtment in a pretty village”
Reviewed 10 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We enjoyed our stay in the Apartment which is just as advertised. It is situated in the heart of the village and just a few minutes from shops. The two flights of steep winding stairs can be a challenge but this is typical for such an old building.
Manuela, the caretaker, is so helpful and such a lovely person.
The weather was extremely hot, being in the mid to high 30s every day and we missed not having air conditioning. However, such high temperatures are not typical. The little terrace which overlooks surrounding roofs was nice to use in the morning before the sun came around and it became too hot.
A pretty village and port area with lots of great restaurants to choose from.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review and for your kind comments both in the visitor book in the apartment and on the review. Tall Floor fans and closed shutters during the heat of the day (the french way) are a preference to air conditioning. It is a personal choice though.

“A beautiful apartment in a most beautiful and tranquil village”

Myself my husband and our 3 children stayed in this apartment and enjoyed a fantastic holiday. The apartment is finished to a very high and surprisingly modern standard. Its in the heart of this most charming village and the shops, bars and restaurants are literally only moments away. The village Marseillan has some of the best restaurants i have ever eaten in and their is a fantastic clean and safe beach a mere 10 minute drive away that the kids loved. Can't wait to return. “A perfect gem . . . .”
Reviewed 6 February 2013 for a stay in September 2012

My wife and I discovered two gems during our autumn break in the Languedoc, Chez Olive and the town of Marseillan.
We travelled relatively late in the year on Sept 29th staying for a week. I cannot vouch for Marseillan in the height of the summer season but at this time of year we had the pleasure of sharing the town only with the locals, browsing the markets, taking a coffee on the street corners and enjoying great value restaurants. The weather was a very pleasant mid to low 20’s, still perfect for a swim in the Mediterranean and relaxing on the near deserted beaches.
If you want to enjoy a taste of France at your own pace and without hustle and bustle Marseillan is the perfect place to visit and Chez Olive is the perfect place to stay. Situated right in the centre of town within a two minute walk of a boulangerie , restaurants and bar you cannot ask for a better location. The apartment itself is on the third floor of rustic old building full of character but is completely modernized with every amenity you could require. The small balcony affords a lovely view over the red tiled roofs of the town centre buildings and as you catch the last of the days sun a perfect spot for an evening aperitif. All rooms are spacious with long windows and high ceilings giving an airy impression.
We hired a car from the Airport which is probably the best way to reach Marseillan, and used the car to visit some of the old towns in the region, notably Pezanas and St Guilhem de Desert. If you are only staying for a short break consider leaving the car in the garage and hiring a bicycle. You can easily reach the beaches at Marseillan Plage or amble along the Canal du Midi and d’Etang. Whatever you do you should take time to relax and immerse yourself in a little bit of France, stick around Marseillan town, enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine and simply watch the world go by.
This was our first visit to Marseillan and we are determined to return. We look forward to staying in Chez Olive again and recommend it without hesitation to anyone looking for a taste of France.

“Excellent Apartment”

We stayed at Chez Olive for a very enoyable week. Marseillan is an historic town with all modern facilities - nice restaurants, good shopping for food & wine, and an interesting place to wander or sit in a portside or town cafe.
The apartment itself is first class - completely modernised with a well equipped kitchen, dining area, new bathroom, small private terrace which overlooks surrounding roof tops, garaging and all you need for a comfortable stay. The local manager speaks good english & is very helpful. With the aid of the owner (who is also most helpful) we obtained longer term car parking nearby which was needed prior to our stay .
We have rented a number of properties in Europe and would put this one top of the list in all respects. One thing to be aware of is that it is on the second floor and there are two flights of steps. The stair case is quite wide so no problem with luggage.
We would certainly stay here again.
