We stayed at this marvellous hotel while cycling the Pyrenees from Atlantic to Med. The service was excellent, and the hotel is authentically French and very comfortable. We enjoyed a fine evening meal in the hotel restaurant. Seix is a lovely town, and for cyclists within easy distance of the picturesque Col d'Agnes.
We have no hesitation in recommending the Auberge.

We got to the Auberge after a long day riding through the mountains and the welcome was very appreciated. Evey effort was made to help us including secure parking for our motorcycles. The rooms are nicely done, simple elegant and rustic - not too over the top but exactly what we look for in this price range.
The food was pretty good and the staff were attentive and helpful.

If you ride motorcycles I would certainly recommend basing here for a couple of days and enjoying the wonderful roads.

It's a year since we last visited, in which time the owners have changed. Still a nice terrace and a friendly welcome, but the menu has changed, for the worse we thought. Prices have gone up, and portions have got bigger, though that's not necessarily for the best...there's definitely an aspiration to refined cuisine, but it doesn't quite work - the overall effect is amateurish and a bit disappointing. That said, the quality of the meat in particular was excellent. Perhaps the main gripe is the disappearance of a good, well-priced menu du jour, replaced by a more complicated, more expensive and less satisfying system of fixed formulas. Not quite found it's feet yet.
Par contre, the pizza wagon opposite in the square goes from strength to strength!

A group of us stayed at this hotel which is a perfect base to ride from. The mountains surrounding this small town provide everything from easy rides to serious climbs. To get the day started breakfast is simple but just what you need before heading out for the day. Evening meals are excellent, providing great quality food and substantial portions.Accomodation is clean and comfortable, the owners are very welcoming and excellent hosts.

Room Tip: The twin rooms with a lounge and sofa bed are ideal for groups. Go for the breakfast and evening mea...

A lovely position on the town square in Seix, with a pleasant terrace. We had the menu du jour at E12 and were pleasantly surprised by the quality and attention to detail - everything was very fresh, especially salad etc, real fried potatoes, a homely meat dish and a very good home-made tart selection for dessert. Great service. A very good choice for the money - would definitely go again.

This hotel is situated in the centre of the small town of Seix with plenty of parking space.
The room was tastefully renovated to maintain the traditional charmof the french country while offering all the modern comfort factors of en-suite facilities.
The food in the restaurant was very good. What you order is what you get without all the sauces and decorations which can sometimes destroy an excellent meal.
The owners/staff are relaxed and reasonable and are keen to accomodate. They advised me on local sites of interest and assisted with maps of the local area. They also speak good English (as well as Dutch, Danish and of-course French).
The price will not break the bank and the half board is an excellent deal.
If you want swimming pool, all night bar, gourmet cuisine etc then this is not the hotel for you however, if that is what you want, the mountains are not the best place place to find that?
In summary, it is situated in the hub of this beautiful valley and makes an excellent base for a holiday all year round.
Highly recommended and would stay there again when I am in the area!

The Aubgerge du Haut Salat is on the main square in the small town of Seix in the Ariege region of the French Pyrenees.
The staff are exceptionally welcoming and constantly work to keep their busy restaurant and hotel running smoothly and to the enjoyment of guests.
The owners have spent time and effort renovating the building. Our room was lovely, elegantly decorated and without the foo-foo The room also had smart new en suite toilet and shower room. The rooms have double glazing, so although it can be somewhat noisy outside, we didn't really notice it.
After a long day walking, the hotel was great to come home to and relax.

The restaurant food is good and uncomplicated but the menu isn't quite extensive enough to dine there every night.
The is a good restaurant also on the town square.

We would stay here again and recommend this auberge to anyone who would like a reasonably priced hotel with good service and nothing too extravagant.
