Owner description: The Airborne Museum, situated in the square of Sainte-Mere-Eglise, a few miles from D-Day landing beaches, facing the church where John Steele famously was caught, relates the heroic adventure of paratroopers of the 82nd and 101st Airborne Division. Through a spectacular museography, the Airborne Museum takes you through the D-Day alongside American paratroopers of the 82nd and 101st Airborne Division. From the invasion preparations in England through the battles for liberation, meet the Airborne troops and accompany them on their journey to Victory.

We visited the little town where John Steele of the 505th PIR, whose parachute caught on the spire of the town church, and could only observe the fighting going on below and visited the Musee Airborne, it was amazing to see the artifacts that had been collected and the whole experience I would recommend as a must see.

How can you close a business at normal operating hours when you have an influx of international travelers attending a 70th anniversary event that is once in a lifetime? The traffic to get to the area alone was reason enough to extend hours - not to mention the hungry and knowledgeable visitors who were salivating to see this site. Tourism fail.

We loved the new addition they just added. "Operation Neptune" is a truly interactive experience and brings many of the things you see in other museums to life. A must see for any Normandy visit.

The Airborne museum in Sainte-Mere-Eglise is by far the best collection of artifacts and stories about the airborne invasion of Normandy. Three seperate hangars depict the life of an airborne paratrooper, highlight the night jumps of June 5, 1944, and the final hangar with a complete C-47 with a wax figure display of Gen Eisenhower meeting with the paratroopers.

This museum has the most complete ensembles of airborne infantry items, aircraft (C-47s and gliders), and the stories of the greatest invasion anywhere in the region. The museum is small enough to keep young kids entertained and big enough to get a sense of the invasion. All of this is in sight of the Chapel at Sainte-Mere-Eglise.

After seeing the Band of Brothers television series and Saving Private Ryan, this museum gives you an up close and personal insight to the brave men who took on Fortress Europe and liberated France. A must see on any tour of Normandy!

The museum is fantastic, especially the Operation Neptune section, which I assume is new. My son especially enjoyed the entrance to this part of the museum. This is how a museum should be built to capture the interest of our current generation of young people. Kudos to the designers.
