“Beautiful church D- day Area”
Reviewed 28 September 2013

This is the famous church where the paratrooper landed on the steeple and was hanging there for hours. They shot him in the foot and he pretended to be dead until he was rescued. Very pretty church with lots of history. You can actually still see a mock maniquin with a parachute where he landed.

“A must see.”
Reviewed 14 August 2013

A parashooter is still hanging at the roof of the church and it is easy to imagine the disaster when the 82 Airborne landed directly on top of a strong SS battalion. The city very touristic of course but actually in a nice way.

“Interesting because of its connection to WWII history”
Reviewed 3 August 2013

The church itself is not a striking building, but the reason to stop here is to see the reproduction of John Steele of the 505th PIR hanging from the church and the stained glass window dedicated to the U.S. 82nd Airborne and U.S. 101st Airborne Divisions. It's also conveniently located next to one of the WWII museums.

“Fascinating”
Reviewed 23 July 2013

Quite stunning to see the parachute and soldier and brilliant museums all around the town. The beaches were brilliant and really brought home what the troops did.

“The Romanesque Church”
Reviewed 11 July 2013

It is a lovely church. It is also part of the history of the 82nd AB Division in 1944 with the lovely window dedicated to them
