Stayed for a week in August as a family of four. This was our second holiday with Maeva and one of many with PierreVacances group. Always happy with their accomodation and location. Apartment compact but clean and modern, consisted of living area/kitchenette, mezzanine floor with double bed and ensuite toilet, bedroom with bunks and bathroom with bath/shower. Complex in a nice location and full of other families, nice and quiet. Pool area really nice and indoor pool a bonus when weather got cooler. Tv had no English speaking channels at all. Good base for visiting Nromandy beaches and other seaside towns closeby. Short walk to a few restaurants, a pizza takeout and a bakery. Stunning beach not far away by foot across a footbridge over the estuary as well as a few more shops and an excellent crazy golf course.

Rather surprised to read the other reviews here (and glad I didn't look at them before our trip!)

We have just returned from a week at this residence and had a lovely stay. There were four of us in a 6-person house that was clean and in good order. (Although the residence has recently been refurbished, so perhaps previous decoration problems have been attended to as part of that). This is designed as holiday accommodation so obviously the space allocation is less than a house built for continuous occupancy; small kitchens and bathrooms are typical of such developments. The kitchenette in our house was well equipped. A minor problem in our house was attended to rapidly and efficiently. Our garden area was secluded by hedges and contained a flagged patio area which was pleasant for eating out. The pool was exceptionally clean and well-cared for and the indoor pool was warm. Our children made use of the giant games and playstation available in the Salon. There were board games available for loan - you had to ask for them at reception - the games are all in French! We had Cleudo and Trivial Pursuit. Reception stayed open until after seven while we were there, so I don't know why others have complained it shut at five.

I would stay here again. The location was excellent, with both the historic village of Dives sur mer and the sandy beach and promenade at Cabourg within a few minutes' easy walk. There were plenty of nearby restaurants to choose from - we ate at La Passerelle restaurant over the bridge, which specialises in pancakes, and has live music, and at Le Mary by the marina which was more bistro style. There is also a bakery down at the Marina so no need to use the bakery ordering service at the residence unless you want to, which means you can get your breakfast bread and pastries before reception opens at 9 am.

Me and my wife visited this place in mid June, just outside the Holiday Season. It a dead place, not worthy of *** stars, max * star. It is definitely a place we would not go back to, no life in the area surrounding the place, only around 2 miles from there.

unlike other reviews i have no complaints about the cleanliness of the holiday cottage we stayed in. there were 4 of us and we stayed in a cottage supposedly suitable for 6, it was very very small, one tiny toilet and a seperate bathroom which had a shower that leaked all over the floor. the bathroom sink gradually got so blocked up over the course of our weeks stay that we just stopped using it. the kitchen area was so miniscule that only one person could stand in it at a time. the garden was an untended piece of grass, the patio area was overlooked by the footpath of the main road. the indoor swimming pool was tiny, the promised drinks on arrival didnt happen, there were no board games to borrow as promised. be aware towels are not provided, in the literature they are called bathroom linen and will cost you 8 euro to rent 2 towels. the nearby bistro mary was very nice and the staff very friendly. i can think of no reason why i would want to return to this resort, have stayed many times with p and v i'm just glad this wasnt my first stay with them as it would also be my last.

We arrived here for one week as the second half of a family holiday with 2 young kids ( 5 and 3). we had booked a cottage with a garden- sadly both these descriptions seemed very far from accurate. The small house was filthy, with some kind of food matter on the walls and brown toilet etc. The upstairs windows opened fully and the stairs were steep and not safe for small children. several electric sockets were very loose and would easily let kids fingers in. The garden was a small patch of what looked like largely dirt.
when we insisted, not an easy experience after a long day travelling, we were moved to a cheaper alternative in the form of an appartment- this was basic but basically ok ( if a little grubby as well). we were not refunded the difference and the staff attitude was astounding- they knew about the house as they spontaneously asked whether it was the dirrty walls (!) but did not apologise. the manager never came to see us despite our requests.
it is a shame because it could be lovely.
i would recommend the location wholeheartedly, but there are lots of alternatives if you look in dives or cabourg and if we went again we would certainly try to find them.

Booked for its location and facilities and wasn't disappointed. Very child friendly with the 2 pools altho on wet/cold days the indoor pool can turn in to hell for adults without children as kids from all nationalities burn off their energy in quite a small area! We didn't mind as our two were part of that but I'm sure adults wanting just to swim a few lengths found it appalling!

The location is superb - it was ideal for the sightseeing we wanted to do (Landing beaches, Bayeux, Honfleur all within reasonable drive.) The local restaurants in the marina are all child friendly and serve perfectly acceptable food (a whole 3 minutes walk) and Cabourg - a 5 min walk across a footbridge has every facility you could possibly need and is great if you just want a seaside holiday.

I was a bit worried about the house beforehand given previous reviews but it was absolutely clean although a little worn around the edges.

The staff were marvellous, able to answer any question we had about the area (and in fluent English when needed).

Our only real gripe was the arrival. You cannot arrive before 5 and with most people arriving on a Saturday, the reception was clogged with tired exhausted families waiting to pick up their keys. The process can take quite a while as check in for each group took 5-10 minutes and there were only 2 staff on duty. There are limited parking spaces in front of the residence but plenty by the houses - which you don't necessarily know as you arrive which lends an air of panic to the whole thing! If we were to book again we would park in any street in the residence we could and send one adult only to check-in, knowing it could take up to an hour!

However, after that fraught time, we found the residence very relaxing and the perfect place to enjoy normandy from.

We booked our stay at Maeva Holiday Residence Port Guillaume through French Life. We have booked this way at other French resorts and have found them an excellent way of seeing France.
The information pack French Life supply tells you not to arrive outside the receptions hours of opening and to telephone ahead if you are to be late. Items such as bed linen and towels were inclusive, but television and 'cleaning kits' are optional extras.
Firstly the two girls on reception at Maeva Holiday Residence were most efficient, friendly, polite and helpful with our needs from arrival to departure.
I did a bit of research on Port Guillaume before we went and discovered it was on the site of a former Steel works! Any reservations I had were unfounded as the whole development as been so wonderfully transformed into an ideal holiday location.
Port Guillaume's appartment residences and mock fishermen's cottages surround the magnificent harbour and the site is well catered for with two excellent restaurants, a cafe bar, poissonerie, pizerria and one of the most friendly Boulangeries around.
Our accommodation was a six person appartment with two upstairs bedrooms and a bathroom. Downstarirs comprised of a second wc and a main room that doubled as a kitchen/dining area with a sofa that converted into a double bed. Patio doors opened to a balcony that over looked the rear swimming pool and had views out to sea.
If you are used to fivestar hotel rooms, then these appartments will more than likely not be your thing. Sure they could do with a lick of paint and more attention to the general cleanliness would be a good thing, but overall they are a good deal for families on a budget French vacation. We did need to do some 'hoovering' to tidy our place up, but it was no big deal and certainly did not get in the way of us having a good stay in Normandy.
Port Guillaume is also an excellent base for seeing this part of Normandy from the D-Day beaches to the wonderfull seaside towns of Houlgate, Cabourg and Villers-sur-mer who's blaze of floral displays I have yet to find a match for anywhere else. Inland you have Pont l'Eveque, Liseux, Caen and Bayeux that are gems awaiting your own personal discovery.
We really love this place and enjoyed the beaches around Cap Cabourg that are perfect for children to explore. Most of all the people are so warm and friendly. This is our second visit to this part of Normandy. Will we be back? You can bet on it!
