4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 June 2013

I booked three rooms for two nights for my family and me. The reception staff was helpful but I needed my daughters help with French as the manager did not speak much English. We had three double rooms on the first floor; the facilities were we good and met expectations. The rooms had tea/coffee making facilities but no milk. We had the three-course set menu dinner on the first night most of the dishes were quite good but my main, the duck dish was overcooked. The three courses were larger portions and difficult for us to finish. We fared better on the second night just ordering a main and sweet course from the a la carte menu, the food and cooking was far better and the portions more manageable. My wife and I had the buffet breakfast each day, the usual sort of things found in this class of hotel but overpriced.

The room was large, quiet and comfortable. The Restaurant is very very good, we stayed there around four days and had the opportunity to test very choices: one was better than the other. Also the wine list is excellent. The personnel is very polite.
The location is also good is you would like to visit the low course of the Loire.

We were travelling through to Lucon and decided to break the journey by having over night stops and this hotel was one of them. The carpark is large and appears to be safe. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was pretty standard and the bathroom was quite large with a bath and a french style kneeling shower. The big surprise was the restaurant. It lacked any real ambience but this was more than made up for by the standard of the food. We had a gourmet dinner and were amazed at the size of the portions. I had a lobster terrine and salad served with a giant artichoke heart filled with avocado salad and that was after assorted amuses bouches of minted baby pea mousse with creme fraiche, crevettes and mushroom filled gougeres. My main was carre d'agneau with rosti. I finished with cherry tarte with cherry sorbet but the portions on the gourmet menu were so large that I couldn't finish everything. My partner had Crevettes in creme fraiche, Roasted turbot in cream with truffle oil and creme brulee with grand marnier. The wine list was excellent. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. The only reservation was the fact that it was very hot and you have to pay an extra charge to get a control unit to work your airconditioner.

Have been using this hotel for many years as a stopover on way to Bordeaux. It is very convenient and in a quiet and easy to reach part of Doue La Fontaine. The rooms are very comfortable and well equipped with a very good shower/bathroom. The restaurant is excellent. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. The breakfast is probably the best in France for this type of hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for a lovely stay.

Room Tip: Room 11 if you like a special stay

We originally visited Auberge Bienvenue for the restaurant, which serves excellent food at reasonable prices. It has gradually added more residential accommodation, and these rooms are spacious and comfortable.

Room Tip: Rooms with direct access to the garden are particularly desirable

Chose this hotel because of its ratings on TA, Logis and Michelin and we were not disappointed.

Quiet room overlooking trrhe garden, modern, well equipped with efficient and quiet air con. Lovely bathroom with good shower and separate toilet. Coffee & tea making facility.

We had the Menu Saveur which we both thoroughly enjoyed. Delicious and beautifully presented. Service was quietly efficient though slightly cold and impersonal.

Nicely set on outskirt of the town close to the Zoo and major supermarket U Stop. Satnav found difficult to locate but gave opportunity to see surrounding area. Well located for Loire tour or en route to South West with autoroutes within 30 miles. Restaurant pleasing and quality food, allow for two-night break around £300 with dinner and breakfast for two. Try to get rooms at rear as front ones pick up noise from bypass when windows open. Rooms spacious. Staff pleasant. Secure parking. Large garden to relax in. Certainly on list for future stops.

Room Tip: Room at rear
