Frequently when you return to a location it lacks that something recalled from a first visit but not Madame Roche and her team! Since our last visit marked upgrade of rooms and exterior area around the garden. The restaurant was busy as ever offering high quality medium price meals. Great en route stop as four hours from main ferry ports.

    Room Tip: garden room

On this occasion we had one of the new rooms, or rather suites, overlooking the garden. Absolutely beautiful, decorated in monochrome colours. Superking sized bed, supremely comfortable, air conditioning, TVs in both the bedroom and sitting room, digital safe, enormous walk-in shower, separate WC, all very spacious.

We didn't use the spa although it looked very inviting with a small pool, a jacuzzi and a number of exercise machines.

We again had the menu savour and it certainly did not disappoint. Enjoyed every mouthful and only sorry that our appetites did not reach to cheese as well as dessert.

The service, both from Mme Roche and the restaurant staff was impeccable.

    We will return!

I booked three rooms for two nights for my family and me. The reception staff was helpful but I needed my daughters help with French as the manager did not speak much English. We had three double rooms on the first floor; the facilities were we good and met expectations. The rooms had tea/coffee making facilities but no milk. We had the three-course set menu dinner on the first night most of the dishes were quite good but my main, the duck dish was overcooked. The three courses were larger portions and difficult for us to finish. We fared better on the second night just ordering a main and sweet course from the a la carte menu, the food and cooking was far better and the portions more manageable. My wife and I had the buffet breakfast each day, the usual sort of things found in this class of hotel but overpriced.

The room was large, quiet and comfortable. The Restaurant is very very good, we stayed there around four days and had the opportunity to test very choices: one was better than the other. Also the wine list is excellent. The personnel is very polite.
The location is also good is you would like to visit the low course of the Loire.

We were travelling through to Lucon and decided to break the journey by having over night stops and this hotel was one of them. The carpark is large and appears to be safe. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was pretty standard and the bathroom was quite large with a bath and a french style kneeling shower. The big surprise was the restaurant. It lacked any real ambience but this was more than made up for by the standard of the food. We had a gourmet dinner and were amazed at the size of the portions. I had a lobster terrine and salad served with a giant artichoke heart filled with avocado salad and that was after assorted amuses bouches of minted baby pea mousse with creme fraiche, crevettes and mushroom filled gougeres. My main was carre d'agneau with rosti. I finished with cherry tarte with cherry sorbet but the portions on the gourmet menu were so large that I couldn't finish everything. My partner had Crevettes in creme fraiche, Roasted turbot in cream with truffle oil and creme brulee with grand marnier. The wine list was excellent. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. The only reservation was the fact that it was very hot and you have to pay an extra charge to get a control unit to work your airconditioner.
