“Comfortable but Small”
Reviewed 31 May 2014

Our first time in Alaska and we stayed in the Hilton before we started our land tour. It was a convenient location ut was a little run down area. We wish that a safe was available in our room. Everyone was very pleasant and accommodating to us.

Room Tip: We would have liked more reading lights next to the bed. We would have liked a safe since we were tr...

I'm currently staying here on a business trip for an educational conference. On the eighth floor, the first thing that greeted me when I entered the room was a giant cockroach on the wall. I'm on my second day and I killed another this morning.

The rooms are horribly outdated - carpet and decor like something out of the 70s. Bed is adequate but blankets and sheets are thin. Curtains don't stay closed all the way which is a huge bummer when the sun doesn't set until 11 PM.

Restaurants are okay but drastically overpriced. Fitness center is adequate - locker rooms and steam room are disgusting. I sat in the steam room for an hour and didn't even break a sweat - why even bother? Mildew all over the walls. Pool is small and only good for floating.

Lobby is nice, but small and overcrowded. Parking is terrible.

Stay somewhere else where modern amenities and decor are actually a concern. You can tell what you're getting into just by the exterior architecture of the building. Maybe the east tower is nicer than the west tower, but from my room what I can see of the east tower doesn't even have windows!

Won't stay here again, even if I come back for a conference in the same building.

Rather dull, uninspired. Public areas good, breakfast buffet good. There as part of Holland America tour (not recommended). Close to train station, but Holland America had us sitting in buses for 45 minutes because they parked buses in a fashion that blocked all others because of a malfunction of one.

Except for the room on the 19th floor being warm instead of cool, this was a great place to say. Location was perfect to see the bay and visit downtown. Amenities were great. Really appreciated the staff, top notch.

Nice to be downtown and right across the street from the weekend street market - hotel could use an update. Bed was comfy and staff was nice. Ask for a view of Mt McKinley and you might get it... Cool stuffed bears in the lobby. Close to train station which was great.

We stayed at the Hilton Anchorage for 2 nights around the Memorial Day weekend, just before the "season" went into full swing. The hotel was clean, the staff was courteous. Parking fees were $24 a day--not bad for Atlanta but seemed over-priced for Anchorage. Several restaurants, a beautiful waterfront, a mall, and museums were within easy walking distance. Would stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the water.

This Hilton is not what I expected from the Hilton brand. Rooms are very small and old decor; however, the room was clean. Staff were welcoming and helpful. We changed rooms from a king to a double because the king room looked much older and was much smaller than the double.
