Central hotel in downtown Ancorage with extremely pleasant and helpful staff. The rooms were clean and had everything one would need for a few nights stay. Fast elevators and a small pool made the stay enjoyable as did the genuine smiles of the door men who were always helpful.

Room Tip: Railway side a bit noisy early in the morning

I stayed at the Hilton Anchorage for 3 nights during May-June 2014 and it was an excellent choice. There is the BAC airport shuttle that takes you to the hotel for $10 and it is a good idea to reserve it in advance (search for BAC airport shuttle Anchorage on the web). The airport is only about 5 miles or so from the hotel and taxi should not cost that much either.

The hotel is located right on downtown and down the hill across the hotel is the railway station. The visitor information center and the tour companies are all within walking distance from the hotel, and there are scores of gift shops and restaurants behind the hotel. There is a shopping mall three blocks from the hotel and the Anchorage Museum is a block behind the mall, and all within 5 minutes walking distance. You can also walk to the Cook Inlet in about 5 minutes from the hotel and view the waterfront. From the 15th floor of the West Tower, you can get a really nice view of the city and the snow covered mountains. The city tour trolley starts at the visitor information center and it covers the city for an hour for $20 per person.

The hotel itself is very nice and the room I had was very quiet as I had requested a room away from the noise. One thing I really liked about the room was the slow closing of the doors and the padding all around the door frame, which muffled any door closing noise. I have stayed in a lot of hotels where people slamming their room doors at all hours of the night disturbed my sleep as those doors did not close slowly and did not have padding around the door frame like in this hotel. This was a really nice touch!

The room had all the necessary amenities like coffee maker, hair dryer, iron, TV, etc., and room and the bathroom were clean. The bed was comfortable and I was able to sleep well. The hotel has a nice restaurant and the coffee shop is connected to it. There is free wifi in the lobby, and there is a business center near the hotel lobby where there are two computers for free use. The coffee shop in the lobby also has a microwave and a toaster, which were very useful for me. The hotel concierge was very helpful, and the doormen went out of the way to help me, which I appreciated that.

The hotel is somewhat pricey during tourist season but it is to be expected. And no, you cannot see Russia from the hotel but there is a Russian gift store on the street behind the hotel and the hotel TV has a Russian channel to satisfy your Russian cravings!

Room Tip: I requested a quiet room away from the noise and I was given such a room.

We stayed one night as part of our Princess land tour. Only a view of another building from our room. Bed was comfortable though. Breakfast buffet was way overpriced but not many other options for the area. Close to walking trail along inlet.

The hotel is very convenient for seeing Anchorage and in traveling to other nearby areas. The hotel staff was friendly and the food was good in the restaurant and during the conference. Parking is basically by valet only which is $24.

The Anchorage Hilton was an excellent choice and I'm glad I had the opportunity to stay there. The staff went out of their way to make me comfortable. Everyone was friendly, nice and helpful. The hotel was in a great location, clean and beautiful.

The staff is what gives this hotel its rating. The front desk staff is friendly. The porters and valets are friendly also and provide suggestions and directions to local attractions and restaurants. The service in the restaurant is slow but the food is decent.

The rooms themselves have very comfortable beds and Peter Roth toiletries. The arm chair in my room was a bit broken in, but the desk chair and desk were fine.

The carpet throughout the hotel is a bit dizzying and psychedelic. I'm sure it probably hides spills and shoe scuffs well. I was here for a conference and the business rooms are kept rather chilly. Many of us wore outdoors jackets for the whole three days.

I'd stay here again in Anchorage. It's close to many places tourists would go.

Our first time in Alaska and we stayed in the Hilton before we started our land tour. It was a convenient location ut was a little run down area. We wish that a safe was available in our room. Everyone was very pleasant and accommodating to us.

Room Tip: We would have liked more reading lights next to the bed. We would have liked a safe since we were tr...
