“You know it's made in America when you watch it made”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2014

Very limited on souvenir space to carry home and wanted to make sure and buy something not imported. I was not disappointed by all the Alaska made items available at the Ulu factory. Almost got to taste a reindeer hot dog, but they were out so settled for bison bratwurst which was delicious. Alaska ice cream also available. Can catch free Lolley the Trolley from visitors center downtown. Our driver, Rea, gave us excellent recommendations for restaurants and things to do. You will find out, most workers are college kids that are 2nd and 3rd generation Alaskans. It is such a breath of fresh air to see young adults proud of their heritage.

“More shopping that attraction ”

This is a store as much as an attraction. You can look through the windows at guys working on the knives. Otherwise it is just a tourist shop. But I liked it

“Nice Visit!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2014

From the visitor's center you can catch a ride to the Ulu Factory. I enjoyed watching the knives being made and the demonstrations on how to use the knives. If the front of the store, they have a few boards and knives marked down with a few flaws. The store has great souvenirs and is the best place to buy jade bracelets. Also, out front there is a place to buy rain deer sausages. This a great place for a quick lunch. Do not miss the river in the back of the building where you can fish for salmon.

“Interesting gift shop and factory”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2014 via mobile

We enjoyed walking around and learning more about the ulu and how it continues to play a role in the Alaska range. It was clean and well organized. The staff. Was friendly. We walked in as we were returning from watching people fish for salmon in the river. Would not make it a special destination but worth walking in.

“very cool watching them make the Ulu's”

They even have a free shuttle from the visitor's center to the Ulu Factory. Lot's of cute stuff in the store, but watching them craft these knives was really neat.
