Good place for last minute shopping. Only 1 block from the train station and offers a free shuttle to the visitor center downtown.

We stopped in out of curiosity and ended up buying a knife and board. The friendly staff helped me to understand the many uses of an Ulu knife. We then had the opportunity to watch the knives and handles being made.

Went on day, they were not in production, so did not get the full experience. Did purchase an ulu, as we wanted to get one from the factory. Can purchase Ulu's at many different sites in AK and others do a better job of creating more exotic handles.

Located down the hill from the market - there is a trolley that picks you up by visitors center on F street-you can also walk to the market. Store sells the original ULU knives and board for chopping vegetables- combo costs $37.50. It took us 10 minutes in the store and then you can go by the stream to watch people fishing-noons was catching anything the day we were there. Nice place to visit.

You can watch the famous Alaskan ulu knives being crafted at the factory. Lots of cool stuff in the shop, besides the Ulu knife sets.
