The room we stayed in was nothing exceptional - pretty basic. But it was clean, comfortable, and reasonably priced. We stayed two nights - the first night in Alaska and the last night. Would recommend this motel.

Candy was particularly friendly and helpful.

Great experience ! Very freindly and accommodating staff. Rooms were very clean with basic amenities. Best rate in town. Very close to the airport.

My husband and I spent one night at the Lakeshore Motor Inn in late July, 2009. What a great find! This small inn, tucked in behind the Puffin Inn and across from the Holiday Inn Express on Spenard, provided all the same conveniences as the larger chains near the airport, but at less cost. Our room was quiet; the Inn had very friendly staff; there is a 24 hour shuttle to the airport, a sink outside the bathroom, plenty of hot water and good water pressure, and very good internet connectivity. There is no elevator but the stairs are easy to negotiate. No coffee is provided in the room, but the lobby had plenty available; the breakfast is very modest (pastries wrapped in plastic); a washer and dryer are available next to the office; and there are several restaurants within walking distance, including the historic down-home cooking restaurant, “Gwennies”. Though the Inn is very near Lake Hood, the float plane noise was not noticeable until around 9 a.m.

We are very happy to have found this little gem and certainly recommend it to anyone traveling through Anchorage.

We arrived in Anchorage in the middle of the night. We were only here a few hours to take a nap, thank goodness. The place itself was clean enough, but everything was OLD. The sheets were so old that they were falling apart. Same with the mattresses. It was just old. Our non-smoking room smelled like an ashtray. The breakfast in the morning was a joke. They gave you a few pastries (pre packaged, icky pastries) and a few pieces of fruit and that was it. Plan on buying breakfast in the morning. It was expensive (everything in Anchorage is expensive) for what it was. If you need a place to take a nap like us, go for it. Otherwise, this is not your destination in Anchorage.

I noticed that the manager of the place held contempt for her employees as well as the native population. I over heard on many occassions her refer to the Alaskan natives as a drain on society. I heard with my own ears her speaking to her employees with distane and as if they were less than people all while myself and other guest were present. I would not ever stay again nor recommend this place to any persons unless they are looking for a place where the managements treats their employees along with the Alaskan Native population with such distane and disreguard just in an effort to save a few pennies. Had I known in advance about the views of the manager I would have never stayed as I could have stayed elsewhere for the same price, which brings me to another point, there sign states the lowest price which is not correct. This review has the possibility to not be posted but this is based on facts and first hand experience and not hearsay.

All of Anchorage is outrageously expensive, and this property is no exception. We stayed 1 night, and it was convenient to the airport and our rental-camper location. The staff was incredibly nice - I was quite taken aback at first - but came to realize this is typically Alaskan. The room was clean and functional, a bit run-down considering the price, no frills, no views, no services - just a decent bed and alarm clock. The lobby is worth a mention - it has a huge wall absolutely covered in trophy-mounted fish. Anglers and artists alike will drool over this. It was strange and unique, and worth seeing.

After a tw day weather delay, we had to find a different hotel in Anchorage for our first night's stay. Trying to save a few dollars, I called and booked the Lakeshore Motor Inn (recommended by Frommer's). I, too, would recommend this motor inn, only if you are looking for "cheap". Our experience was not the greatest. Some rooms may have been renovated, but ours was like in a timewarp - the 60's. Not much of a continental breakfast either. We did enjoy the lobby area, but that was about it.
