“A Splurge You Won't Regret”
Reviewed 8 July 2014

We decided to go to one really nice restaurant during our trip and after reading lots of tour guides and websites we decided to try Marx Brothers Cafe. From the moment we saw the restaurant in a charming old house to the last good bye we were smitten. Be prepared for a warm welcome, great service and exceptional food.

“Wonderful food, poor service”
Reviewed 27 June 2014

We had our anniversary dinner here, made reservations well in advance as did other diners. One would have thought that with a full house there would have been more than 3 people working the floor. One almost exclusively making salads. Service was very slow. It took 45 min. for our wine to arrive. Longer for our food order. Butter knives no butter, lukewarm water for tea. The waiter would come by a say he'd be right back with something, then be off pouring wine serving salad and the like. The staff really tried but they were overwhelmed. Poor management. The food is some of the best in town, but without decent service it takes some of the enjoyment out of the experience. Overall not the best anniversary dining experience.

“Five plus. Friendly, great food and great service”
Reviewed 23 June 2014 via mobile

My wife and I were greeted by the owner. Friendly and asked about our trip. Offered us a glass of wine. Poured it himself and brought it out. This was just the beginning. We had the table side Caesar salad. Very very good and fun to watch the owner make it for us. We then had dinner and it was served hot and fresh. Just the right about of service. Food was fresh and hot, wine was the right temperature, staff was friendly. Would return.

“Impeccable food and service”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

We dined here last night as a post-marathon celebration, and everything was amazing. This is an intimate, cozy place owned by people with a lifelong passion for creating amazing meals that are well served. One of the owners (Van) greeted us at the door, made our salad table-side, and catches salmon himself for the restaurant. We ordered appetizers, salads, mains, and dessert, and the only problem was we were too full to finish everything! Wine suggestions were outstanding. Thanks to the staff for a truly memorable evening that was perfect in every way.

“Fine dining in Anchorage.”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

This restaurant came highly recommended to us and overall we were really glad we went.d service was at times a bit over-the-top constantly feeling our water glasses and several different people checking in on us so it got a little overwhelming.for appetizers we had the halibut cheeks (fabulous) and seafood mousse (left us flat) the Caesar salad is a must the portion is large for a dinner salad but it is exceptional. for entrees we had the filet mignon( very slightly overcooked) and the
venison (just right) the side dishes were very tasty.unfortunately we had to catch a plane so we did not have time for dessert the wine list is extensive I enjoyed my selection.one thing we would like to mention that does detract from their ambiance is that we were sitting at the window and saw that staff members were constantly going downstairs and outside they must have freezers or storage there but it seems excessive and definitely detracted from our enjoyment of our meal.overall we had a very good experience and would recommend them and if we are back in anchorage we would visit them again.
