The location is just a couple of blocks off the main downtown streets of 4th and 5th, and very close to the Tony Knowles coastal trail. The price is less than the chain hotels. Breakfast consisted of muffins, breads and toaster, good selection of fruit, cereals, milk, OJ and coffee. A microwave and fridge are nice amenities. There was a futon which would have served as an additional single bed. Desk staff were extremely nice and helpful.
Otherwise, the beds sagged in the middle, a window closing mechanism was broken, and although there are three floors there is no elevator so hauling luggage was necessary. The overall feeling was of a revamped apartment building.

Room Tip: Even rooms on the street are quiet as this location is off the main downtown corridor.

My wife and I differ on this place; I wasn't impressed. We entered our room to find a table fan running, apparently in an effort to blast the reeking smell of cleaner out the open windows. One of the windows was broken and we couldn't close it...we had to remove a screen to pull it shut (I reported it, but didn't look later to see if it had been repaired). The cable box for the wall-mounted TV was hanging by its cords, with the face pointed down, so the only way to change channels or adjust the volume was to walk up to it and point the remote up at it. There is no elevator, and you can't go anywhere without going down a flight of stairs to the desk. They offer an airport shuttle, but there are times when the desk is closed while the staffer drives to or from the airport. It also seemed to be quite a long walk from anything in this little/big town. There was a small, fairly typical motel-style food service offered in the morning. I'd have preferred spending more for better accommodations and a better location.

Nice location, easy to find, good parking lot, comfortable beds....they are very nice at the front desk with directions. They had a breakfast that was good for starting off the day, a very small
icemaker, and vending. There is a restaurant right across the parking lot for the nights you don't want to drive anywhere. I would stay here again.......

We had booked this for a one night stay after our Alaskan cruise and were so very exceptionally disappointed. First of all the hotel is very run down. Secondly and most important when i pulled back the bed covers the sheets were dirty and stained. Upon checking the bathroom there was a partially used bar of soap in the shower complete with someone else's hairs. I went to the front desk and they were more than happy to hand me another set of sheets..which i then had to change the bed myself. Not an encouraging thing to do as I think the pillows are circa 1960..ugh! We used the bath towels over the pillow cases because it just gave me the creeps. The front desk did apologize and said something about a new maid on staff...but no attempt at providing us with any discount, or other way to make up for the situation. The room was also poorly lit and. All in all I would never stay there again, and I suggest you don't either. Yes, Anchorage is a pricey place, but I would have gladly paid more to have clean sheets and bed and bath and peace of mind.

This hotel is not the Captain Cook but then neither is its price! My friend and I were looking for somewhere clean, conveniently located and relatively cheap having come to the end of our two week trip around Alaska. This hotel met those requirements.

We had the downstairs room with two queen beds. Though slightly noisy when the window was open this was remedied by shutting the window. The room was very spacious and clean.

We didn't eat the complementary breakfast as we were so close to outside options. The location was great within walking distance to museums, shopping and eating places.

The hotel also provides free shuttle service and WiFi.

Finally the hotel staff were friendly. The lady at reception was great and very eager to answer questions.

Great stay.

Good location downtown and in walking distance from shopping, museum, and restaurants. The hotel room was spacious with two beds, but certainly could use a facelift in terms of the carpet and the bathroom, however, it was clean.

It was reasonably priced for Anchorage, so I feel we got what we paid for.

Room Tip: Basement room with two beds is quite spacious, and quiet, but your window looks straight onto the ti...

I visited Anchorage Alaska during the week of July 7th,2014.I was in for a real shock. The hotel was a DUMP.There was no on site security. The room had no air conditioner and had a stale odor from the wet carpet. The hotel had one young staff person with a multitude of duties : picking up people from the airport and closing the hotel. The so call commentary breakfast was placed on a broken down table.

Room Tip: Choose a well know hotel chain or a reference from a friend.
