We stayed for our first anniversary. Our first B & B! Great beautiful place to get away from the world! You step into a castle. The owners are as lovely as can be! Surprise yummy homemade breakfast to the max! A well over done lovely home away from home! I am planning to return with my husband for my 30th birthday getaway! I am so excited! You must appreciate being treated like royalty to enjoy the royal treatment!
Thank you Highland Glen Lodge!!!

We stayed at Highland Glen Lodge our 1st night in Anchorage, then went to Denali, and then came back and stayed in another B&B. Well, afterward, we just kept thinking about our experience at Highland Glen and must say we really enjoyed it the most. It was mid-week and we were the only guests, arrived from a long flight from Florida and were exhausted. We got in the hot tub for awhile, relaxed a bit, and then went to bed. We had a great night's sleep in a comfortable bed, in a lovely clean room, and then woke up refreshed and had a magnificent breakfast. We entered the large, exquisite living, dining room where the table was set for us with Prince Albert fine china, crystal, and silver. We had a lovely fruit salad and scones, great coffee, and then a Belgian waffle and omelet. Wow. But most of all out hosts were very kind, attentive, and absolutely wonderful. The stay was great!!

Large, comfortable bed in a nice room. The views were great and the neighborhood is very quiet. The B&B is located on a hill overlooking anchorage. We were very comfortable and our hosts were very welcoming. There was a nice lounge with books and movies and a kitchen. Breakfast was delicious and served in a beautiful dining room. Definitely recommended.

This was our first ever stay in a Bed & Breakfast and we enjoyed it. Shiela & Cliff, the owners, really go out of their way to be helpful. Cliff had great suggestions about places to visit and how to get there. Shiela is an excellent cook and the breakfast every day was sumptuous. Best part of staying at the B&B was meeting other vacationers from around the world on breakfast table and sharing stories and tips. You do need a rental car for this place because it is not within the walking distance from dining and other attractions. The only drawback to this place was that it is not good for people with allergies because rooms are heavily furnished with fabric material that absorbs allergens. Other than that, it is an excellent and reasonably priced place to stay.

we really enjoyed our stay here. a grand place, all the space you could ask for as a guest and a very friendly host and hostess. this is really a stylish place and breakfasts are terrific.
large beautiful garden, lovely gardenhouse- the only thing we did not like was the traffic along the road. as it was independance day, perhaps traffic was heavierer, but it was rather noisy.
that said, this is a wonderful b&b.

The house is really charming, room confy, and owners very attentive. Expect breakfast in a classy dining room with silver cutlery. That gives an idea of teh type of place it is. The only problem it is location....from from center of Anchorage , and no restaurant close to the house. I got lost trying to fond Cliff's suggestion to have dinner. Price is reasonable, and we got teh room the very same day!. You cannot be disapointed

We just returned from a Labor Day weekend at the Highland Glen. The owners, Sheila and Cliff were gracious, charming and responsive to all our needs. Our daughter joined us for our first night and they accomodated us beautifully. The breakfasts are outstanding and creative. The grounds are beautiful and right near Flattop mountain and the Chugach national forest. The beds are wonderfully comfortable and there is coffee/tea/hot chocolate available at all times. A wonderful place to stay.

  • Liked — warmth and friendliness of owners
  • Disliked — had to remove shoes due to white carpeting--but this is wet, muddy Alaska!
