Stayed at Moose Gardens for one night in early June before heading down south to Seward. Right before we turned up the gravel driveway a huge female moose popped out of the brush and gave us our first taste of Alaska wildlife! Home was really beautiful, with magnificent gardens (we were there early so big flowers weren't out but still really lovely), welcoming owners and a shy cat who watches over the place! We stayed in the IVY room, good size, large bathroom and very clean everywhere. Weather was cloudy and raining, but could see O'Malley peak every once in a while along with some other peaks in the Chugach mountains right from the large picture windows in the living room. Woke up early and everything was set up for coffee, I just had to push the button to brew a pot! Sat with my coffee in comfy chairs in main living room just staring at the mountains for about an hour-fascinated by the changing cloud cover and obvious game of "peek-a-boo" the mountains were playing with me! Was served a full breakfast including homemade flapjacks, a large assortment of syrups and some really good reindeer sausage (first time I've had it- tastes like kielbasa!). Ask Garnett about his bear and moose close encounters, his collection of Viking chachkies and skim thru Mayra's photo books of her gardens - they are amazing. Nice folks, clean and welcoming home and great location. Don't need a car to get here as there are taxi's lined up at the airport, but to go anywhere from the B&B into Anchorage a car is needed.
