We had never been to Anchorage before and this was the hotel assigned to us on our Princess Alaskan Cruise Tour. Our room was updated and comfortable. The food and service were good and the staff was very accomodating. We were only there overnight and the location made it easy to walk around the town. The lobby shops were upscale and you could find anything from the usual souveniers and necessities to fine art and jewely as well as clothing suitable for an Alaskan tour.

My wife and I stayed in an Executive Room on a secure floor, complimentary breakfast and evening canapes included in price. Room very clean and comfortable, well serviced and all staff made our stay very enjoyable from the moment we checked in to the time we checked out. I would not complain about any aspect of this establishment.

We stayed here to begin our Princess Land/Cruise vacation in Alaska. Arrived a day earlier than required so we could unwind from time zone change and see Anchorage. The Hotel staff was excellent; even though our stay was part of a Princess Cruise booking, we were made to feel like we had just walked in and paid rack room rates.

Location is excellent with quick walking access to Visitor's Ctr, downtown sights, and the Cook Bay. In house restaurants were very good; a lot of airline pilots and staff also staying the night, which made for some interesting conversations in the bar. The only complaint was the lack of A/C, which for a warm July night made sleeping a bit uncormfortable. I can understand not having individual climate control for each room (except heat) in Alaska, but the hallway outside our room seemed to be air conditioned, so we opened the doors while we could.
Loved the historical maps , paintings, sculptures around the property depicting Cpt. Cook and his voyages of discovery. Could easily spend a few hours enjoying this facet, and inspired us to find out more.

This is a very dependable choice for Anchorage. The décor is all dark, and kind of old fashioned, but the rooms are spacious (we had a junior suite), comfortable and clean. The sheets could be a little softer. The lobby is big, clean and modern, and the service is good. They have an excellent outdoor clothing store. We ate breakfast at The Pantry and the food was good, although the service was a little strange, i.e. the waitress was not familiar with all the dishes on the menu. It is in a good part of Anchorage for getting to good restaurants.

Stayed in a suite room w/ roll-away bed in sitting room for our son. Comfortable rooms, but decor is tired and worn. Stale, old carpet in the sink area of the bathroom.... They have no air-conditioning and we had to have all windows wide open, w/ full-on ceiling fan use on sunny days. Unlike some competitors, no breakfast included. Hotel over-run with Princess cruise tourists! So-so, expensive breakfasts in the hotel coffee shop. Hotel has seen better days. The artwork that compliments the original (albeit worn) decor is beautiful.

DearTravProf,

I am sorry you were not completely satisfied with your stay with us. The hotel has recently been reinvesting millions of dollars into updating our décor, bedding, shades, artwork, flat screens and I am pleased to announce we are in the process of a multi-million dollar project to air conditioned room availiable within the next 6 months! I hope you have plans to come and enjoy our improvements.

Thank you,

We spent one night here before our land portion of our trip. The Captain Cook was very nice and in a great location, an easy walk to many restaurants. I would stay here again.
