In my opinion this is the best hotel in Anchorage. Beautiful clean rooms and a quiet location. Excellent restaurant. Easy walking distance to the railroad. I love it and would more than happily stay here again.

We stayed at the hotel for one night at the start of our Princess cruise/tour. The hotel was immaculate and elegant. The service was great and this was a wonderful way to spend the first night of what turned into a very active two week tour.

After a week of cruise, it was nice to stay in a spaciouse one bedroom suite. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathrooms were small and outdated but the overall stay was very nice. The location is very good. My daughter really liked the indoor swimming pool. Great value!

We really enjoyed our time at the Captain Cook. We have stayed at the Marriott and the Cook, and I would choose the Captain Cook to revisit. It is very Alaskan in theme...nautical...with cute shops and restaurants. The staff is friendly and the views are great!

Room Tip: Get one overlooking the water...on a higher floor.

Dear SWallace12,

Thank you for staying at The Hotel Captan Cook. We appreciate your review and comparison to other Hotels in downtown Anchorage. We strive to be the best but without feedback from our valued guests we would never know where we stand and what we need to work on. We hope to see you return to Alaska and can't wait to have you stay with us again.

Icecream! Alaskan's consume more icecream per capita than any other state. I know it sounds crazy because it's cold here in the winter but we just love our sweets!

The Captain Cook is well located, but then so are several other hotels in Anchorage. The hotel has been updated, is clean, but is a bit too dark for my taste. We were assigned a room near the elevator, and could NOT sleep because of the elevator noise. So, we asked and were assigned to a different room around the corner and on the opposite side of the hall from the elevator The elevator could still be heard, but we managed to sleep through the noise. The following morning we went to the hotel restaurant for breakfast. The food was very good, attractively presented and in ample portions. However, the restaurant was understaffed for the hotel's occupancy; and as a result, the waiters simply couldn't give much attention to the diners.

Room Tip: Avoid any area near the elevator.

Hotel is located within walking distance to anything you could want to do in town. Only a couple of minutes to the airport or to Elmendorf Air Base. Rooms are clean and comforatable and quiet. There is shopping located on the ground floor from T shirts to high end art. Doorman was alway pleasant and informatable. Little on the pricey side but what isn't in Alaska.
