“Everything you want and great service too.”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

During our recent trip to Alaska we stayed here and were so happy we did. To begin, the shuttle service was available even when we arrived after midnight and every other time we needed it (except one which I'll explain later). Our room was large and comfortable with two double beds and two comfortable arm chairs, a desk, TV, coffee maker and a very welcome free WIFI. The bathroom was large and the room very clean.
Breakfast was included and started at 5:00 am, perfect for people who had early tours. I have to say that the scrambled eggs were the best I have ever had at a buffet breakfast, tasty and fluffy. Sausage, waffles, pastries, yogurt, juice, coffee and items I probably forgot were included.
We were traveling on a land tour and I was later going out on a cruise so I had a large suitcase of cruise wear. The hotel stored it free for me so I wouldn't have to lug it around.
The staff was attentive, helpful and uniformly friendly including but not limited too Ron and Aldo.
The location was perfect for us as we were heading out on Alaskan Railroad adventure and the station was a short walk away. I personally love the sound of a train whistle but for someone who doesn't this is probably not the place for you.
When we returned from our adventure we got off the train with a party of 35 traveling together and staying at the property. The shuttle was obviously engaged moving everyone and their luggage so we walked to the hotel toting our bags. Not a big deal.
Ship Creek runs behind the property and we enjoyed watching the salmon fishing. When we wanted to go downtown we used the ULU Factory complementary shuttle just a few feet away that took us to the Anchorage Visitors Center. Would positively stay here if we return to Anchorage.

We stayed here three different times, on our two week vacation in Alaska. They picked us up at the airport, and the next day dropped us off at the car rental agency, which was great. This hotel is very busy with the train station being just down the street. They only had two clerks working the desk and the breakfast area. It was very hard for them to keep up with all the needs especially in the breakfast area.
I really like the cookies they put out every night. When we stayed there two years ago they also served milk with the cookies. I think the service has gone down since our first stay. The rooms were typical rooms and they were clean.

the rooms are clean and well laid out. the hotel is a uphill walk to downtown but they do have a shuttle. the shuttle is busy and we ended up taking a taxi once but otherwise they were accommodation. Breakfast is regular hotel type. hotels are expensive in Alaska and this one is high too

Dear MnTreker,

Thank you for your comments on Trip Advisor! I do agree that hotels in the Anchorage during summer are a bit on the pricey side but we are very happy to know that you enjoyed your stay with us. We hope to see you again in the future and hope that you have a great rest of your summer!

It was clean and comfortable, however, we arrived late with no transportation of our own. There was nothing available to eat, the only delivery available would have taken 1 1/2 hours putting dinner at 1:30 in the morning. It would have been nice if some of the breakfast foods were available for purchase. Even an oatmeal would have been great. Also the vending machine was not working. Very frustrating.

This hotel was everything we expected. After reading the reviews we knew what were getting. The hotel is in a great location, near the train station (we walked with our luggage) and near town. The breakfast was good and room was nice. A bit of mold in the shower, but we had flip flops so not a problem. Our maid forgot to leave towels one day, but the front desk was very accommodating and brought them right up to us. The Bridge restaurant is excellent and well worth the money. We ate there both nights and were very happy. If you're not that hungry you can eat appetizers at the bar. The ULU factory store is next door and has wonderful Alaskan souvenirs. We would definitely stay there again. The front desk staff was also very knowledgeable and friendly.

Room Tip: We chose the higher floors as the first floor had walkways right outside the windows.

This hotel was like a home base for our travels north and south of Anchorage. The shuttle was a bit slow at getting us from the airport and we were very tired from a day of travel. The front desk was most helpful at suggestions for dinner. We walked there, (uphill) but it was worth the walk. Breakfast was the usual hotel breakfast. Area very small and congested, but the food was satisfying. The location was great for our next day excursion to the train station, 5 minute walk with luggage. Best part though were the fresh, out of the over cookies that were devoured as fast as they were put out.

Basic Comfort Inn. Good breakfast buffet. Located REALLY close to Ship Creek, which you can walk along on a paved path. Very close to train station. You can walk to Downtown, but...up a steep hill and it's a bit of a hike. The Bridge restaurant is about the only thing in walking distance for food...excellent but pricey. Expect a $30pp dinner bill.
