“Comfortable stay”
Reviewed 26 August 2014

Our stay was July 13-16 and July 18. After researching places to stay I chose the Residence Inn as it seemed like the best deal. Lodging in Anchorage is pricey during the tourist season. Two couples shared a two bedroom suite which worked out well. We each had a private bathroom with shower and tub. One room had a little more counter space. The rooms were on the small side and no luggage stands were provided. I got one by calling the front desk. The living space was comfortable and it was nice to have some room to spread out. They provide coffee and tea in the room. Free WiFi though the connection wasn't always great. We ate at the breakfast buffet at the hotel and found it to be good. We also had the soup and salad bar one night. We used the hot tub one night but found the clorine to be over powering. Our first stay we had a room facing the parking lot on the back side of the hotel. It could be a bit noisy depending on who was in the parking lot ( skate boarders). The second stay we had a two bedroom suite facing the court yard. This was a quieter location so I would ask for this if I stayed again. The two bedroom suite was 269.00 per night but with taxes etc. came to 300.00 per night. Each couple paid 150.00 per night. I looked at Bed and Breakfast and they were coming in with prices quite similar or even more. I liked having more privacy. We rented a car as we were doing a DIY land tour before taking a cruise.

Room Tip: If staying in a two bedroom suite ask for one facing the courtyard and not the parking lot.

I stayed at this hotel twice during my business travel to AK. The room reminded me of a cozy studio apartment; generous living space, full size appliances, and a comfortable bed. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The only complaint I have is that some of the silverware wasn't clean. Otherwise, an excellent stay and value.

I would like to thank Melinda and all the staff at Residence Inn for making our stay so good.We couldnt fault the hotel .Our rooms were great, the food delicious and the free dinners an extra bonus.
Our luggage was misplaced for the first 3 days of our trip and Melinda went out of her way to help us ,even driving us to the airport when our bags arrived .
Thanks again would highly recommend this hotel .

Room Tip: Two bedroom suite excellent for 2 coupkes or family bathroooms in each bedroom

We found what we've come to expect at Residence Inns--a nice room big enough to accomodate a family of 5, a great free breakfast buffet, and good customer service. The desk clerk was very helpful in assiting us to find transportation and restaurant options. We were able to walk to an excellent pizza place that was still open at 10pm--the Moose's Tooth Pub and Pizzaria.

I booked a 2 bedroom suite for our family of 6 for the night before we left for our cruise out of Seward. This hotel was a great choice! We had just finished a week of rv travel and needed a place to regroup. We used the laundry room to wash clothes. My son in law needed a hair cut and they even lent us a broom/dustpan to clean up afterwards. The basketball area was a great place for the guys to unwind. They also had a nice outdoor patio area. We were able to walk to dinner for pizza since we didn't have a car. The breakfast was very good for a hotel breakfast. The suite was a nice option instead of booking 2 separate rooms.

This hotel is a typical Residence Inn. Comfortable, clean, unexciting, and looks like all the rest. Space is good as is the bed and bath. My room had the odor of smoke in it and when I raised the issue it was taken care of quickly and well. Breakfast was ok (free). But, there are no restaurants near by that I could find and so getting dinner, after a long day of work, would have been hard. Also, no bar or alcohol available, but I was told by the desk that there is some available Monday to Thursday - I was there over the weekend.

Two small but important points. There is only one grab bar in the bath and this is insufficient. And while they offer a bath mat for the shower, one has to remember to ask for it. That they even say this is available suggests they know the bath is slippery. If that is the case, they should put the mat in the rooms without being asked.

We were traveling with friends so we booked a 2 room suite. We were in room 328 for one night on June 6. We arrived on time, taking our time with the drive from Seward post cruise to Anchorage so we could show our friends some beautiful Alaska sites. We made a point of not being early even though we were tired and ready for some rest and down time.

Upon arrival at 3pm we were told our room wasn't ready and they offered to store our luggage. We kept it since we had nothing to do and wanted to sit, so sit we did until 4:30 when our room was finally ready. Wow, just when we wanted to show our friends how great Marriott treats their loyalty guests.

The room was clean and the property is attractive and has that appealing lodge look. The 2 bedrooms weren't exactly the same but both had a queen size bed. The rooms were both small without much space for setting out luggage. There are no safes in the suites. One bathroom had a reasonable size counter space. The other bathroom had a very small counter. The bedroom lighting is very dim with no overhead light. The bathroom lighting is very good over the mirror. The shower pressure was great. Basic toiletries were provided - shampoo, condition, soap. The wifi became very slow at times quite randomly.

We returned our rental car that night and made a hotel shuttle reservation for the airport at 12:30 the following day also arranging late check out for this time. We had someone knock on our door not once, but twice around 12 noon asking if we were leaving yet. This, after not having our room ready until 1 1/2 hours after check in time. Management needs to get on top of this problem.

We went out to the shuttle before 12:30 so they could have their room back. At 12:30 when the driver still hadn't arrived, we informed the front desk, and loaded our own luggage in the back of the shuttle. The driver returned from lunch at 12:40. This isn't a good idea when people have flights to catch. Being on time is important.

We canceled our next reservation here for 2 weeks later and booked the Springhill Suites instead where we had a nice experience last year. I've had a string of bad luck with Residence Inns so they are now my last choice of Marriott brands when booking a hotel.

Did I expect too much? You decide.
