Try the chicken fried steak. Comes with hash browns with onions and your choice of eggs and toast. Large portions. If you have this for breakfast you probably don't need anything until dinner. I've been here several times and have never had a bad meal. Go on a weekend when nothing is happening in the city or you will have a long wait. Enjoy

We stopped in Boulder after visiting the Hoover Dam. Since it was lunch time, we let decided to have lunch at Mel's Diner. We weren't disappointed. The food was great and the owner made sure we felt right at home. He gave us a little history about the town and his restaurant. I am glad we chose Mel's.

We called on our way to the hoover dam, after enjoying a pleasant stroll around boulder city. We are from the UK and we really like to dine in non - chain restaurants. We really enjoyed our Sandwiches, fries and coleslaw. The owner came and introduced himself which was very nice and told us about the history of the diner.
We went away feeling that we had an enjoyable lunch in a little historic diner.

Being from out of town we wanted an old fashion place to get a burger or sandwich, seeing Mel's Dinner as we drove down Main Street in Boulder City, it looked like a quaint spot. We had to park a few block away, so as we were walking down to the dinner we noticed one of the street's were blocked off for some sort of street fair, but we wanted to eat first. As we entered the dinner we were greeted by 3 people. WOW. There were 6 in our group and the place was very small. They sat us at 2 tables which was ok. The Gal came to take our order ( which their isn't much to choose from) and I asked about the street fair, Her reply was I'VE BEEN COOPED UP IN HERE ALL DAY, HOW WOULD I KNOW. Rude! Our grilled cheese was more liked grilled bread, hardly any cheese and we paid extra for ham, which you could read a newspaper through. They do have good fry's and club sandwich which is the only reason why they got 3 stars. The gal never came back to see how our food was and a young man came to clear our plates. We will not be back. Seen too many other places to eat on our walk back.....

Nice little family run business on way to Hoover dam. Stopped in on a whim. The food was great. The portions were very large. I had a Philly and hubby had the steak sandwich. Both were very good. The waitress and owner (i am assuming) checked on us several times. I would definitely eat here again.
