My wife and I have been to Mel's quite a number of times but every time it was for breakfast. And breakfast has always been excellent. This time it was for lunch. I had the cheeseburger and fries and my wife had the patty melt and potato salad. While both were good, the breakfast is much better. Still, don't pass it up for a good lunch sandwich. Also, do not search for the menu online as what you see is NOT what they have. You need to actually go there to see the menu. No corned beef, reuban or philly steak like what you will see on the internet. Just be aware.

After eating mediocre overpriced breakfasts in Las Vegas, it was a relief to stop at Mel's Diner en route to Hoover Dam.

Our excellent concierge at the lovely Vdarra Hotel where we were staying in Las Vegas suggested that we stop at Boulder City for our food. We were interested in seeing the town, as its homes had been constructed for the workers who built the dam. One of the restaurants the concierge suggested was Mel's, which turned out to be a fortuitous choice.

Not only was the food tasty and reasonable and the service engaging and pleasant, it turned out that the diner was perhaps the oldest building in town, so we were able to satisfy our hunger for edibles and edification at the same time

My husband and I stopped on our way from Vegas to the Grand Canyon. Breakfast was very good. The owner waited on us and was very nice. Would LOVE to stop by there again sometime!

We stopped off here on our way from Vegas to Hoover Dam. The welcome was excellent and the food hot and tasty. It was quaint and a welcome change from the chains. It says it all that when going home from a week in Vegas we were discussing the highlights and our visit to Mel's Diner came top.

Second best place to eat in town. Has good breakfast and lunch items fairly quick in and out. Not much parking around the area and you can't park a full size pick up on Nevada way without getting a ticket for sticking out too far.
The Dr Smith sandwich is really good, Roast beef with green chilies and cheese on grilled sourdough bread, (Don't think they call it that anymore though).
The omelets there are good as well as the haystack.
