“Small, clean, perfect!”
Reviewed 24 November 2013

Good grief, from reading some of the other reviews, there are a lot of high-maintenance people out there. "I did not have a night stand on my side of the bed which made it difficult to have a place to put my water bottle, jewelry, and belongings at bed time..." and "No tea or coffee available in the room..." Seriously, people. It's a small, historic hotel in a small, historic town. If you're out sightseeing, checking out the local restaurants, and making friends, what more do you need besides a clean room, a bed, and a bathroom?

We stayed here for one night between a conference in Vegas and a couple nights at the Grand Canyon. We were given two "free" tickets to the Boulder Dam Museum, which we initially brushed off...but when we found ourselves with an hour to kill, we went to the museum, which turned out to be very interesting and informative. The hotel is within walking distance to the public ArtScape, a great wine bar, and shops. I agree that the choices on the complimentary breakfast were limited, but if you want more of a selection it's available for purchase.

Bottom line: If you want luxury and every possible amenity, stay in a suite in Vegas. If you want to see the real America and experience charm, stay at the Boulder Dam Hotel.

A hotel, a short drive from Vegas, minutes to the Hoover Dam and Lake Meade and located in historical Boulder City downtown surrounded by wonderful places to drink, eat and sip wine. The Hotel is its self historic built at the time of the construction of the Hoover Dam. The rooms are modern but furnished with antiques and throughout a grand lobby you are in a different era. Great breakfast, good sleeping, and very reasonable. One of the places you click "Choose This".

Room Tip: 2nd floor is convenient and there is an elevator

We stayed for one night whilst we looked around Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam. If you want a modern hotel with modern facilities then don't book this hotel. However, for what we paid and for one night it was perfectly adequate for our needs. You get a smallish room with a shower and a bed with a very hard mattress. That said, the room was clean and the staff friendly and helpful.

We stayed here one night so we could tour the Hoover Dam and then get a good nights sleep before we drove the 5 hours to the Grand Canyon. This hotel was built in the 1930's so the rooms are small as they were back then. They are clean; however, the bed was not too comfortable. I found it difficult that there was only one night stand. I did not have a night stand on my side of the bed which made it difficult to have a place to put my water bottle, jewelry, and belongings at bed time. I would prefer to have a night stand on each side of the bed. The bathroom was VERY small. Hardly enough room for one person to turn around in. My husband found it very annoying that the toilet paper holder was on the wall behind the toilet which made it very difficult to reach. He actually took the roll off of the holder and placed it on the sink for easier reach. He did find it very confident to have the business center area right next to our room. He was able to get his morning coffee there while he did his morning reading. The hotel is very well kept and clean. The restaurant offers complimentary breakfast which was very tasty and well prepared. The staff is helpful and friendly. The town of boulder is extremely clean, and quiet. And the hotel is on the main street with easy access to shops and restaurants within walking distance. We really enjoyed our visit. And it is very confident to the Dam. I think this hotel is your best choice in the Boulder area.

We have been travelling Route 66 and we were on our way to the Hoover Dam and Las Vegas and thought this historic hotel would be in keeping with our travels. At first we thought the bedroom fitted this criteria but on settling in we started to see the shortcomings.
You can hardly move in the very small bathroom, controlling the water temperature in the shower is almost impossible and only 2 bath towels was a bit mean.
In the bedroom a shelf from Home Depot had been cobbled together which seemed totally out of character. No tea or coffee available in the room.
The breakfast included in the price was limited and we ended up with a bowl of cheerios and a cup of coffee. There were other items available but not of our liking. Asking for a cup of tea was a glower from the waitress with no personality. You could have extras but these were all at a price.
On the positive side, the air-con was very quiet and the rooms were very clean. The wifi was also functional.

Rooms are small and dated, but clean and comfortable. The hotel was built in a different time, and was an interesting experience. The breakfast included was excellent. The staff at the hotel worked very hard, and were very helpful. The whole Boulder City experience was a nice break from the chaos of Vegas!

We stayed here on a trip to the Hoover Dam and found the hotel to be above our expectations. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The lobby was lovely and the restaurant excellent. The breakfast was delicious and the service was so friendly. The best surprise was the museum in the hotel!! Due to the National Park closure we couldn't get into the tour of the Hoover Dam but learned everything we wanted to know from the museum. It was so well done!
