“And again, so great!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 January 2013

We had previously stayied at Couleur Lavande in September 2012. We came back at the beginning of this year full of hope that nothing had been changed. And indeed, nothing has. It feels like staying over at a friend's house. Although it's 10 times better because friends don't always make breakfast for you with freshly squeezed fruit juice and eggs from the hens in the back garden. While the weather was not particularly warm, we had the chance to explore Provence at its calmest. And then come back to the best B&B we've ever stayed in. There's not much more I can say, it really is an outstanding place with incredible hosts. Can't wait to book our next trip!

Room Tip: All rooms are wonderful. Please note the B&B is more suited to adults than children. The Provenç...

Many of us fantasize about leaving the stressful jobs and city lives to retreat to a nice place and live in harmony with nature. Few of us do it. Jacqueline and Axel, a Swiss couple formerly working in IT, seem to have found the right formula. They bought this farm in Provence and turned it into "chambres hotes de charme et prestige". We spent four nights there at the beginning of September; I have only now found the time to write this review.
The place was not easy to find (were it not for the GPS coordinates) – it is set among orchards and vineyards seemingly in the middle of nowhere. Our initial worries about the location were quickly washed away by the warm welcome and the charm of the place. Couleur Lavande is where it should be, far enough from civilized world to give you a sense of tranquility which I have not experienced in a long time. The rooms are simple and yet sophisticated with a quirky feel, the garden manages to be at the same time wild and neat, and you can share the natural pool with frogs and fish (the pool is filtered naturally through reeds and volcanic rocks and sand).
Our hosts were most gracious – we had delicious breakfasts with fruits from the garden, freshly-laid eggs, jams home-made by Jacqueline fruits and vegetables juices, freshly-squeezed by Axel and lavender honey from local producers, we had complimentary drinks every evening with Axel lining up bottles of local wine for degustation and we had free snacks of dried fruits and pastries throughout the day. Nothing was left to chance, but everything came very naturally. Our hosts left in our room a very useful and non-intrusive presentation of the local attractions, maps, descriptions, rankings and prices of the restaurants in the area and various offers for services. As we got to know them better during the evening drinks, we grew fonder of them and of their sustainable living philosophy. Thank you very much guys for making our stay so pleasant and special!
I would highly recommend renting bikes to visit the country side (they were brought to us at the house at no extra costs). We also had a very good massage with a lady that comes by appointment – no hesitation in recommending it. Plenty of things to see around the place (we particularly like the Palais des Papes and the Roman aqueducts) and some very good restaurants and vine cellars – which hopefully I will find time to review. I regret we did not have home-cooked dinner at the place, other reviews suggest it was a memorable experience. Maybe next time?

Room Tip: Each room is unique so it would be like comparing apples with oranges. The Loft is the largest (entr...

Dear D & C,

Thank you, thank you, thank you for having taken the time to write this long and generous review. I'm taking great pleasure in reading it again as memories of your stay come back, 'de très bons souvenirs' I should say, and especially memories of that evening when we where just the four of us sharing our most profond views of life.

Sorry if we didn't organised a home-cooked dinner while you where here :( We do this "festive version" only once a week (upon request)... the other evening we offer a "simplier version". Next time you will get it... promise!

Alors à bientôt peut-être !

We recently stayed 5 nights at Couleur Lavande. It is such a wonderful place! The atmosphere is beautiful and relaxing. Jacqueline and Axel, who run the bed and breakfast are wonderful hosts. They are very attentive and friendly. Additionally, they gave us some great recommendations for attractions and restaurants in the area. We would also recommend staying in a night to enjoy one of Jacqueline's homemade dinners. It was delicious! She puts a lot of time and effort into the food.
Also, make sure you check out the natural swimming hole. It's amazing!
We just wanted to say, thank you Jacqueline and Axel for a great experience in Provence! And, we would highly recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone looking for a relaxing country retreat!

Room Tip: We chose the Loft and it was awesome! We loved the decor and the bathtub is fantastic! I would hig...

Katee... I'm soooo ashamed of myself! I can't believe how long I took to get back to you. I'm truly sorry...

Thanks for this great review! I like the photos too :) Thanks for sharing them with us.

We have wonderful memories of you both and we think of you very often. This is the sad part of your job : we meet fantastic people and we never know if we will see them again... sigh... So if you guys are coming again in this part of the world, don't forget to pop by and say hello!

Cheers,

We chose Couleur Lavande based on Trip Advisor reviews... my oh my we were not disappointed. Such a great place, a warm atmosphere, such lovely hosts... the rooms are huge and perfectly equipped (we loved the bathtub in the Provençale, the choice of pillows and covers, the small provençal shower gel), the garden is simply amazing, the pool is so beautiful and everything makes for a wonderful and peaceful experience...

I know this is not a very organised review, but we have just come back and we wish we didn't have to say goodbye. Jacqueline and Axel are so friendly and warm, and dinner at the table every night with the other guests was a delight and a chance to meet new people, as well as enjoy great meals and wines carefully selected by our hosts. A great added feature is that there are free drinks and snacks to nibble on throughout the day, as well as a complimentary "apéro" every night with wines and pastis from the region.

The best part about this place is that you feel like nothing has been left to chance. There are restaurant recommendations, vineyards and wine cellars to visit, bikes to rent... all you could even think of. Tourist hot spots such as Avignon or Isle-sur-la-Sorgue are just a short drive away, yet the property is a bit off the beaten track, to ensure maximum calm and relaxation.

What else is there to say? We have already booked a weekend in January, for truffle hunting. I guess that sums it up nicely...

Room Tip: We stayed in the Provençale room, which is beautiful, but next time we will try the Loft, which seem...

Dear, dear, dear Bianca,

Having such good reviews make things very difficult for us as it sets our guest expectations so high... Therefore, we are truly delighted to hear you were not in the least disappointed :)

We will always remember the great time we had with you both, especially at the dinner table !!! what a laugh we had...

As for the "snacks to nibble" feature, we simply leave a few fresh fruits, dried fruits, nuts and some cakes/muffins/pie, etc. at our guests' disposal during the afternoon. Nothing fancy, but as you say, very handy,

Anyway, glad to see you back in January !!!

Couleur Lavande is one of those rare places that you hesitate to share with others. It's really that special, and you naturally want to selfishly keep it to yourself. From the moment you enter the property, you know you've arrived somewhere wonderful. Explore the extensive grounds, the natural pond and streams, the kitchen garden, and the chickens which provide the flavor-packed fresh ingredients for meals, expertly and deliciously prepared by Jacqueline. The rooms are spacious, quiet and relaxing because they are so simply and carefully decorated. We loved the quirky little touches. While we were staying, the wind was blowing and it sounded like we were staying on the beach. Simply perfect. Couleur Lavande is a labor of love, that Jacqueline and Axel graciously and humbly share with guests who they treat like family members. We felt so at home, so welcome, that we didn't want to leave. We were genuinely sad to say "au revoir". If you want a place to unwind and make new friends and relax, in a home away from home, look no further than Couleur Lavande.

Room Tip: Pick one, any one, or bring your friends and book them all!

We stayed 2 nights at Couleur Lavande and enjoyed it thoroughly. Jacqueline and Axel are very friendly and helpful and mingle with the guests very easily. Rooms, each individually themed, are spacious and quite. Actually, the whole surroundings are perfect for relaxation since it is a bit off the beaten track, yet close enough for any excursion to nearby, more well known villages of the Provence.
I think the place will even come more to its right if you stay for longer time, so you can really wind down ad escape from every day's rat race
Highly recommended.. .

Dear B & W,

Thank you for the kind review :)

It's true... our garden is quite inviting and relaxing... so it's a bit of a problem if you are staying only a day or two as you have to choose between visiting the area (and there are soooo much to do around here) or to stay here and have a peaceful, relaxing time !!!

Anyway... thank youuuuuuuuu and hope to see you again soon !

We chose Couleur Lavande for the first few days of our honeymoon, and we were delighted.
What makes it exceptional is the combination of five star service and genuine warmth. Jacqueline and Axel are friendly and easy-going: you can use the pool whenever you want, you can help yourself to fruit, drinks and snacks - and at the same time, every detail is meticulously polished.
The website gives you comprehensive information, including full 360 degree panoramas of the rooms, and allows real-time booking. We stayed in the 70s room, which we found cheerful and pleasant: the bed even comes with sets of pillows of different firmness.
Axel and Jacqui's commitment to sustainable living is woven through everything they do - even the pool is filtered naturally through reeds.
Breakfast is just wonderful: freshly laid eggs from Jacqui's chickens, choice of different mueslis, cereals and fresh fruits, home-made jams and freshly squeezed juices. As much as the food as possible is locally sourced, from the garden itself or from local markets: but above all, its delicious.
A very special place, we will definitely return.

Thank youuuu Raphael & J :)

We were really honored to be chosen as your first honeymoon stop!!! We are so glad you had a great time in our home.

Yes, our pool (or I should say "swimming pond") is open 24/7 all year round... which is quite normal for a natural pool!

Thank you for noticing our "green" commitments. We are truly trying to do our bit for the earth, and thus for our guests. But we are lucky to live in the Garden of Eden were all kind of fruits and vegetables grow in abundance.

We are looking forward to seeing you again... soon ?!!!
